I've always hated Gwen Stefani. I think in No Doubt's early days, they were a decent sounding ska band.
She never looked sexy to me, with her half shirts, and platinum blonde hair. But Gavis Rosdale, and about 25 million people, disagree with me on that.
But, I have to admit, I love that song "Sweet Escape". One of my favorite things about it is Akons contribution.
Of course, I think of Akon as I do 98.3% of the rappers, though. A complete and utter idiot.
Now, I got a few calls when I blogged about how stupid Alicia Keys was. And, my girlfriend gave me crap, saying I was picking on "black rappers."
I'm picking on idiots.
The latest was an email I got from somebody.
Apparently, Akon said he ran a car theft ring, and that he did three years in jail. A website called "Smoking Gun" found out this was false. He never served a day in the pokey.
Now, why would a rapper lie about that? They think it gives them street cred. Apparently, doing crimes is looked upon as a good thing in that culture.
Jay Z always talks about how he sold crack. And, people speculate as to whether or not that is even true. But hey...he made probably 400 million in rap, and now has Beyonce as a wife. Not bad.
Of course, Alicia Keys will probably say that it's the government, or some crazy thing, that prompts rappers to make these statements.
But, glorifying crime, is idiotic. Whether you're a black rapper, or a white heavy metal singer. I just haven't heard about it being done in those circles.
