Talent Doesn't Equal Intelligence

Alicia Keys makes some idiotic comments.

I was out of commission for a few days, with a bad migraine.

So, I wake up late this morning. I turn on KGB, to listen to their morning show.

And, I hear them talking about Alicia Keys. She's one of the most talented people in music right now. She can act. She's great looking, and has an amazing voice. She can also play a mean piano.

I liked her first CD, but haven't enjoyed her leanings toward hip-hop as much.

Well, KGB mentioned that in an interview with Blender magazine (a music magazine for those that don't know; not a food mag, as my aunt would probably think). Alicia was asked her favorite gangsta rapper. I don't recall what her answer was, but they said that she mentioned gangster rap was just a ploy by the government, to have those artists all kill each other.

They mentioned she wears a gold AK47 around her neck. I would've loved to have told her....that it's things like that, and some of the rappers I've seen on MTVs "Cribs", that have the posters of the movie Scarface. They are the ones that glorify this "gangster" lifestyle.

And, if record labels decided that they didn't want to put out this stuff, I'm sure the rappers would then complain about that.

I know that Bill O'Reilly went on this kick to have some rapper dropped by Pepsi (I think 50 Cent), since he had raps that glorified crime. Pepsi then dropped him, and the rapper and others, started knocking O'Reilly.

So, I'd just love for someone to ask Alicia these follow up questions.

Do we let rappers talk about shooting police (which, actually isn't as big of a topic as it was back in the 90s, with Ice Ts "Cop Killer"....and, ironically, he now plays a cop on Law and Order)
