So, I'm heading to Vegas for the weekend. There's supposed to be a storm. That'll make traffic fun.
A guy I play racquetball with, told me his ex-wife had a gambling problem. The woman he's dating now, started going to the Indian casinos all the time. He suspects she has a problem, and has started gambling online.
I dated a woman that had a gambling problem. I found out when she gave me a watch and a hundred bucks for my birthday, but during dinner, insisted we follow it up with a trip to Viejas. Then, she'd go there nightly. When pressed, she admitted to me, that she lost around $18,000 gambling the previous year (I suspect the number was higher).
I don't understand that. I lost $100 in Vegas 10 years ago, and that day still haunts me. I wonder, if like shopping, women are more apt to get "addicted".
Although it's hard to understand mental disorders, like people pucking after they eat when they already weight 80 pounds but want to lose more, the gambling thing astounds me even more. Because, once you lose a large amount of money, even if you get that feeling of wanting to win it back...once you lose AGAIN, wouldn't that tell you...Hey, I need help. Or I might lose the house.
Oh, no need to worry, pit bosses and casino companies. This rant wasn't to talk myself out of going. I love blackjack. And I usually win.
Ah....famous last words.
