Okay, so...everyone is sick of talking about the OJ case. Not me. Hell, I was still talking about the last OJ case when this recent scenario hit the airwaves.
I think the Palace Station Casino should sell shirts that say "My friend went to a sting operation at the Palace Station Casino, and all I got was this lousy T shirt." The other side could say, instead of Vegas' famous "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas", it could read "Don't let anyone leave, mother%&#@*& !!!"
(okay, I stole that last last line from the Daily Show)
But as much as I'm enjoying OJ in cuffs, I know this will be yet another trial that frustrates me with how lame our legal system is. First, the bail hearing. It's tomorrow. He should not get bail. He is a flight risk. I've heard some legal "experts" say he is not, and he's so easily recognizable, where would he go? To that, I say, who cares. He was recognizable when he previously led police on a chase down the freeway (correct me if I'm wrong...but that was fleeing police when they were there to arrest you...isn't that considered "flight"? And if it is, what would make anyone think this time would be any different?)
So, he'll be out on bail. He'll be signing autographs. He'll be sleeping with blondes. He'll be golfing, he'll be doing everything but looking for the real killer! Oh wait! Maybe that can be his defense to bursting into that hotel room. He might've thought the "real killers" were in there.
All this stuff I'll see OJ do before the trial, irritates me to no end.
When the trial does come around, guess what? It's going to fall apart. I know it will. I went from being excited, that they slapped on a "kidnapping" charge, until a few seconds later when I thought....is what he did kidnapping? Maybe it's threatening, maybe it's containing someone against their will, I dunno, I ain't no smart lawyer. But it surely doesn't go under the umbrella of kidnapping.
And, if the authorities are so quick to make deals with all these other goons, surely his defense will have a strong case of "they are just out to get my client OJ". And, they'll have a point. Not that I care. I want him to fry. Let's do an Al Capone, and jail him for something "small" like this (I say small, because two people didn't end up sliced and bleeding to death...so in OJ Land, this is relatively small potatoes......Mmmmmmm potatoes).
Then, there's this case of him getting his "stuff" back. If it's "his stuff" can we make this Fred Goldman's stuff? Remember, he got the Heisman. OJ has yet to pay any of that judgment, so let's hand this stuff to Mr. G. And, while we're at it, why have I not heard that the authorities are slapping a "tax evation" charge (the thing, that I believe, got Al Capone). He was apparently signing stuff, and a third party would sell it, so he wouldn't have to give the money to Goldman. Well, I seriously doubt he was reporting that to the IRS. And, they won't be willing to make a deal, the way they did with Willie Nelson. Nelson got screwed over by his accountant, he didn't do it with bad intend. And, they knew he had the means to make more money to pay it off. OJ probably doesn't, so the IRS should look into this case also.
Now, let's start with the jurors. I say, DO NOT have any blacks on this jury. It's not worth the risk. In Christopher Dardens book, he said they were throwing blacks off the first OJ case, and the Judge was upset by this (of course, Judge Ito, or Judge IDiOt as I call him, didn't seem upset when Johnnie Cochran, devil rest his soul, was throwing whites out of the jury pool). Darden was under the mistaken belief, that there was so much evidence against OJ, it didn't matter who the jury was. Big mistake. Let's not make it again. Let's keep African-Americans away from this case.
And...plea, plea, plea. If you can get OJ for 2 years on a plea deal, for the love of god, take it people. Look at Phil Spector. That was yet another slam dunk case, and they just announced it's a hung jury.
Anything can happen, so if we get OJ jailed for a few years, let's be happy. It's a few years we don't have to worry about him chopping anyone up, acting arrogant for the cameras, or doing any more of his own "sting operations". If we want to see people take the law into their own hands, we'll go see that new Kevin Bacon movie. Or that new Jodie Foster film.
Save me an aisle seat !!!!
