The Ink is Black. The Page is White. A'ight?

Why is it okay to make fun of certain races, but others are off-limits?

I was at House of Blues tonight watching Louis XIV and Transfer (two great local bands).

Between sets, a DJ was playing old skool hip-hop. You know the tunes...Tone Loc, down with OPP, cars that go boom, etc.

Tina said sarcastically "I love watching white people dance." I glance over, and see a couple dancing. Her and I then had a debate about that comment. I brought up the fact that I've seen some African-Americans dance like they're having an epileptic attack. I've seen some Caucasians that can dance very well. Sure, President Bush looked idiotic dancing with that tribe last year. And, Obama looked pretty smooth dancing on Ellens show the other day. But that's not the point.

It bothers me that everyone can say "white people look ridiculous on the dance floor." Or, a movie can be titled "White Men Can't Jump." Seriously, where was the outrage from Jessie Jackson, or anyone for that matter, when that came out? Jackson should've been saying that statements and stereotypes like that he's against. Oh, I'm sure he would've been out in full force if a film called "Black Men Can't Swim," Or "Black Men Get Lower Test Scores," came out.

Either we can all make those statements and observations, or nobody can.
