So, there was a letter in the newspaper this morning, from a woman complaing about the lack of security on a Friday morning at 4 a.m. She was one of the idiots that decided, the day after Thanksgiving, to camp out and go shopping.
Yet, the locked cab of her truck had a cell phone, digital camera, and other items that were stolen.
It's hard for me to have sympathy; for a number of reasons.
What is it with you nut jobs that you have to camp out, to save a few dollars? To deal with crowds, and uncomfortable sleeping conditions, etc.
And, what makes you think that thieves wouldn't see you park your car, knowing you are going into the store for a long period of time?
My step-brother once had a car broken into at a movie theatre.
Jerry Seinfeld, 15 years ago, did a routine about having a TV in the backseat of his car, and needing to stop at another store. He said, "I put a sweater over it, so nobody would look back there and see the TV and want to steal it. I have no clue as to what they thought of the huge, square sweater, though."
I've had other friends that have their entire CD collection stolen out of their cars. And I wonder...what would make them think that a thief, seeing one of those cases, wouldn't want to grab those? Any pawn shop or used CD place, will give them $3 a piece for CDs.
Maybe it's the pot calling the kettle black. I often keep a digital camera in my car, and other items, like my racquetball equipment. But, I have so many clothes and other things...if a thief looks back there, they'll probably just think it's someone that's living out of their car.
Sometimes it pays to look like a slob.
