Remember the song Video Killed the Radio Star being the first thing shown on MTV back in the early 80s?
Well, now it's reality shows, that are killing MTV and VH1.
And, I'm sure the folks writing sitcoms are worried. Writers aren't needed for reality TV.
At 4 a.m. the other day, I noticed MTV and VH1 were both showing videos. It was so fun to watch. What happened to these days?
I understand if Flavor Flav has some dumb reality show. He's a former rapper (although, not even the most talented in his band). But, now they have reality shows that don't have famous people. There's one on MTV with a Tia Tequila. The novelty is that she's bisexual, and people of both sexes are vying for her.
Insane. If I wanted bisexuality on MTV, I'd...well...I'd want those Boy George and Flock of Seagulls videos back!!!
I just miss Spike Jonez directing the Beastie Boys and Weezer. And even the classic rock bands like Fleetwood Mac, romping thru the desert.
And more recently, the White Stripes bringing Legos to life.
I guess if I want to see videos, I'll go to my DVD collection.
If I want to see Legos, I'll head up to Carlsbad.
