You're all idiots. It's really the only conclusion I can come to.
The ones that are loud in the movie theatres. And, the ones nearby that do nothing about it. Which is everyone.
I went to see American Gangster the other night. It was half full in Mission Valley. I knew right then, it would be a problem. Unless I go to the 10:00 p.m. or later, I'll hear idiots talking and cell phones ringing.
I didn't mind the couple in front of me, that didn't shut up. They were a bit distracting, but not loud. I didn't mind the weed someone was smoking.
I did mind the two babies some idiot in a doo-rag and Steelers jersey brought.
I told my date I was going to say something before the movie started. She tried to calm me, by going out and telling the ushers. They did nothing. And the babies continued. Even after the thing tells you "don't make your own soundtrack to the movie."
About half way thru the film I yelled "Get that baby out of here!" Why nobody else said anything before that, is beyond me. I consider all you silent people, just as bad. It's a form of condoning, or enabling. Because, if this idiot feels uncomfortable enough, maybe he'll pony up for a babysitter next time.
When I saw him in the lobby, I was going to say something. My date didn't want me to, because he was big and black, and she thought no good could come from it. I instead went up to the manager, and as he walked by I said "Can you tell that loser not to bring his kids here, to an R rated movie, any more?" It was uncomfortable for all of us.
The manager offered me free movie tickets and I told him, "I don't want them, because, then you'll think I complained just to get something free. I just want your theatre to prohibit people with babies. Unless it's the Bee Movie, they have no business in here."
The guy was polite and apologetic. And I told him I understood the fact that he has teenagers working the box office, and it would be a whole host of other problems if they were determining who to sell or not sell tickets to.
A friend of mine didn't want to see American Gangster, because he said movies like that glorify the gangster lifestyle (just watch any rap video or MTV show Cribs, and see how they idiolize Scarface). I didn't find that to be the case....although I did come out of that movie wanting to shoot people. But for completely different reasons.
