I watched as former Charger quarterback Drew Brees tore up the Atlanta Falcons.
But, it was quarterback Michael Vick that probably did more damage to the team. Since his arrest, he hasn't been QBing the team. And, that was one great QB.
What surprised me about the sentence that was handed down the other day...it's one of those rare times where I'm happy with it. I know there are some PETA people out there, that probably think he should've gotten the chair. But that just isn't realistic.
The DA wanted 12 to 18 months. And the judge gave him 23. Who can complain with that (other than Vick and his attorneys)?
I believe that's because he failed a drug test, among other things.
His career in the NFL is basically over. He'll be young enough when he's out of jail to still be productive, but it will be a PR nightmare for any team to touch him. So they won't.
He'll go up to the CFL, where a lot of the past NFL druggies always found a home (and never seemed to find their way back into the NFL).
Now, if we can just find a way to get O.J. Simpson to join Vick, then I'll be happy.
I don't care if the jury is trying him on the two previous murders instead of this recent armed robbery. Hey...whatever it takes to get a pyscho off the streets...I'm all for.
And after sentencing him...the DA or judge, should spike the gavel and do one of those stupid end zone dances the players do. Maybe even point in the guys face afterwards. Of course, Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton would complain about that. But then, I'd point in their faces, too.
