Our neighborhood (south La Mesa) was once a great place to raise a family, but over the year increased crime has force our families to limit outdoor playtime for our children. In fact our community had the most robbed business in the City of La Mesa, a 7 eleven located in Palm Avenue, near Spring St. This business closed a couple of weeks ago and a rumored deli/coffee shop will be build. Great news!... not so fast.
Just as neighbors began to celebrate when the 7 eleven finally closed, a new 7 eleven may be built right across the street from the old one in Spring St, even closer to residences and facing neighbors backyards less than 100 ft away.
Neighbors, businesses, and the local church supported a petition against the new 7 eleven, but what will the cash-strapped city of La Mesa do? Will they support this little corner of forgotten La Mesa or support 7 eleven.
Does your community suffer from a similar situation? is your community active active in this type of issues? do you feel you get the support you need from your city leaders?
