Part one is here. Part two is here.
First, a final note in support of the notion that Cameron was, um, inspired by Alien when he made Piranha Part 2, so much so that he managed to snag the sequel, Aliens.
Remember the scene in Alien where the android Ash tells Ripley that she's doomed? What does he say about the Alien? "You still don't understand what you're dealing with, do you? Perfect organism. Its structural perfection is matched only by its hostility."
Cut to Tyler Shepherd explaining to Anne what it is she's up against in the mutated piranha: "We spliced in genes from different species to create the ultimate killer organism."
Hm.
Moving on to other Cameron moments in other Cameron films. In The Abyss, the heroes are an estranged husband and wife - she's a scientist, he's a foreman on the rig she designed. In Piranha Part 2, the heroes are an estranged husband and wife - she's a scientist, he's a cop who patrols the waters where she works.
In a fairly famous deleted scene from The Abyss, aliens send a terrifying wall of water toward various coastal cities - punishment for man's wickedness.
Naturally, there's a panicked attempt to flee the beach - just like in Piranha Part 2, when a terrifying swarm of flying piranha emerge from the sea - the fruit of man's wickedness.

Okay, okay, enough. But if you're bored, take a gander at Piranha Part 2, and let me know what you think.
