"Twenty Feet From Stardom" brings you up close to a legend

http://sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2013/may/31/46617/

Is there a better way to end the week than with Twenty Feet From Stardom? Well, a private screening of The Day the Clown Cried, comes to mind, but until Jerry decides the time is right, we'll just have to make due with this glorious tribute to the awe-inspiring Darlene Love, and all the other 'colored girls' who sang "Doot, doo doot, doo doot, doo doot doo doot." Before it was over, all these glad tears were falling, baby, from my eyes.

Darlene Love sang backup vocals, frequently uncredited, for everyone from Bobby 'Boris' Pickett and Frank Sinatra to jailed record producer, Phil Spector. Spector should have begun serving time decades ago for voluntarily murdering Love's career.

As of today, Twenty Feet has yet to receive an opening date. Those of you not familiar with the aptly named Ms. Love, still have time to do their homework. Here are but a few examples of why Ms. Love deserves to be sainted.

Screw Irving Berlin! Nothing says Christmas quite like Baby, Please Come Home.
