Amy Brenneman delivers the poop with PSA on IBD

It must be tough on celebrities looking for a career-bolstering cause to cozy up to, what with all the good foundations and diseases already spoken for.

Jimmy Buffett wants you to help him save the manatees. Bill Shatner is big on the ATA (American Tinnitus Association). Mariah Carey supports the Fresh Air Fund.

After suffering from inflammatory bowel disease for years, actress Amy Brenneman has stepped out of the stall and up to the plate as the spokeswoman for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America.

Leave it to Hollywood to reduce colitis to a cute pooping disease with this 30 second PSA that ran before Saturday night's 7:30pm showing of Broken City in Reading Cinema's Grossmont #1.

I don't really want to be the one judging Amy, but doesn't this violate the Too Much Information Act of 2011?

Is Inflammatory Bowel Disease really a laughing matter? If so, I'll gladly contribute a couple of cheap jokes to help further the cause.

With all the crap currently filling theatre screens, it should come as no surprise that Amy's a day late and a doody short. Billy Crystal beat her to the bowl with Parental Guidance, this season's colorectal comedy cavalcade.

Take it from Billy: a roll of Aloe Vera Charmin and a couple of choruses of Come Out, Mr. Doody are enough to keep anyone regular.
