Starting tonight, KPBS Film Critic Beth Accomando and Reading Cinemas are joining forces to build buzz for director Alexander Payne's upcoming feature, The Descendants (starring George Clooney!) by hosting a four-night retrospective of Payne's previous films. The series kicks off with the abortion comedy(!) Citizen Ruth, showing at 7 p.m. tonight at the Reading Gaslamp 15. Tickets are $5, and available at the theater, Fandango.com and the Reading cinema website.
As a bonus, a limited amount of free passes will be available to an advance screening of The Descendants. (The screening will be first come first serve for pass holders and seating is not guaranteed.)
*I admire Payne - he's one of those rare directors who seems to be building a vision and getting things done on his own terms.
