What's the Matter(horn) with Disney's lack of Originality?

When it comes to being green, no studio recycles their own garbage with more aplomb than the Walt Disney Company.

Spielberg and Lucas were the first to turn movie theatres into children's thrill rides, but leave it to the house the mouse built to literally turn theme park attractions into full-length features.

One would have figured the box office crater left by The Country Bears, a live-action family film based on Disneyland's Country Bear Jamboree, would have permanently scared the studio off theme park rides as cinema. Instead, they hire Johnny Depp to make funny faces and four films later, Pirates of the Caribbean has become one of the most successful franchises in movie history.

Apparently, there is no end to the madness. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney announced that a feature film based on the Matterhorn is in development. Who will they cast in the title role, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson?

This isn't the first time Disney fashioned a film after their famed Anaheim bobsled ride through a Swiss Alps mock-up. Third Man on the Mountain, an action-adventure film, was released in 1959 to coincide with the opening of the ride.

No director or release date has yet been assigned, but if it's any consolation, the film is being produced by Justin Springer, the man that brought us Tron Legacy and Prom.
