They actually traded Trevor Hoffman. Is that not one of the most idiotic things this team (Padres) could possibly do to alienate more fans??
Trevor, Hells Bells, Hoffman was MR. PADRE. There are no good reasons for this transaction. It was not money, it was management being a bunch of stubborn asses. I'm pretty sure Trevor's agent did not make things easy, either. Before the holidays, the Padres announced that they took their offer off the table. I spoke to Jim Ballweg, Vice President of Sales, in November. He said that at some point, you have to take the offer off the table. WHY???? Is there some rule that states you cannot continue to talk? Pulling an offer is tantamount to saying, "so long". In this case it was probably unnecessary as it was likely that the Padres did not want to sign Trevor. He is much too old and experienced, holding numerous pitching records, to be a good fit on a Triple A team.....
This could be the straw that broke the camel's back for those who were waiting to decide about renewing their season tickets. I would guess there are not too many standing in line to buy season tickets for the first time.
Since we will be paying major league prices to watch minor league baseball, Padres management should consider lowering the prices of everything else (hot dogs, pizza, fries, chips, sodas & BEER).
I am fuming and it will be tough to sleep tonight, knowing that the Padres had the record holder, best reliever/closer in Major League Baseball, but they let him go.
Trevor Hoffman is now a pitcher for the Milwaukee Brewers. I hope Tony Gwynn (Jr) can help him in this transition. Somebody send the Hells Bells CD to the Brewers.
