A Horse is a Horse, of course, of course

On Christmas Day I wandered out on my patio. I wanted to listen to the QUIET. It was loverly. But there was a horse, all saddled up & ready to go standing in the street! I shook my head and asked myself the obvious question, how much egg nog did I drink? There was a truck & horse trailer parked across the street and a man came out and just started walking the horse around. I tried to get his attention, but he did not respond. So, I called the police. I was pretty sure that horses are not allowed on City streets. The woman that answered the PD phone was laughing along and she asked if it was a big dog!! I said I hoped this would be the silliest call of the day & we agreed several cars would respond as it was such a quiet day. 5 cars showed up. They talked for awhile, then the man put the horse in the trailer and left.

The rest of the day was uneventful, no more animals to photograph! I got out the crockpot and made a really delicious beef stew. I will be having that for many more meals!

It is amazing how quiet it can be when the homeless are out being fed by various organizations, there is no loud music on the Ivy rooftop (until last night), very few cars leaving lots of available parking spaces, and the apartment complex is apparently near empty.

I hope your Christmas was at least enjoyable. On Christmas Eve I enjoyed a dinner out with some friends. We went to Mister Tiki as they had a fantastic dinner special. It was served family style. There was turkey (deliciously moist), ham (perfectly cooked), yams with nuts & spices, mashed potatoes, green beans with almonds, and zucchini with onions and a delicious sauce (the zucchini was too mushy but the flavor was great). For dessert, there was pineapple upside down cake (individual portions, likely baked in ramekins) with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream. I am unable to eat pineapple so I got 2 scoops of ice cream with caramel coconut liquor. It was very yummy. Initially, service was excellent but as the restaurant filled up the service slowed down to a crawl. Several different people became servers, bus boys, etc. I will admit, it was much like a zoo and many folks were waiting for tables. I presume many restaurants were closed. Plus, the special meal priced at $14.95 for TWO, was an excellent deal in the still sluggish economy. It was a nice evening with nice friends.

May your days be merry & bright.
