Holidays in San Diego

No tree wrestling match this year. I found a really nice tree at the Ikea lot sale ($20 for any tree). It fit perfectly in the designated corner! It is all decorated and makes the room look and smell (piney) nice. I love to decorate for the Christmas holiday. I have accumulated so much stuff , it is hard to decide what to use. I have empty boxes and some full ones to return to storage until after New Year's Day. The decorating is done.

Now I head into the kitchen. I will be baking, basically nonstop, for the next 2 days, maybe even Thursday. Then I do some rearranging of furniture, and cleaning. By Friday, I will be ready for guests to my annual gathering. My gift to my friends is a Ziploc bag! There will be an array of goodies and they choose what they like best to fill their bag. I used to wander around in Christmas attire, playing Santa, to deliver goodies. Since I can no longer do the wandering part, my friends come here. It is good for them to pick out what they like and it is great to keep me so darn busy for a few weeks!

To update you on the homeless situation, 9th has become pretty empty. The rain obviously sent people running to the shelter. But, even before that, it seems they have abandoned 9th (between E & F) as an encampment site. As for the window breaking, it was a rock that was thrown and there were enough witnesses to allow the police to arrest the 'culprit'.

The Ivy Hotel continues to be a thorn in my side. They are anything but the good neighbor they promised to be. After all, the LOUD music is only 3 nights a week. That leaves 4 nights of sleep for the residents in the area!! It is simply corporate (or the Kelly clan) greed. I haven't checked on this but, they had been charging a $20 cover for entrance to the rooftop. This is one of the places for the "Beautiful" (I call them Pretty) people. Disposable income. I wonder what that is like.

There are some websites offering pretty good gift ideas. Restaurants.com has good prices on gift certificates. Amazon.com has daily deals and lots of items get free shipping. More With Less Today [email protected] has some pretty good coupons each day. Hot Deals lets you choose specific categories to search. There are plenty of good deals but nothing for free!

In this busy time of year, I may not be blogging as much as I would like. But, keep on looking as I will definitely be back in 2010. San Diego supplies enough fodder to keep me writing.
