Watch out for internet fraud

For anyone who has tried to lose weight, you know what a struggle it can be. I do not do well on structured diets. I just need to cut back on portions, eat less sweets (ice cream is my big downfall), and of course, get more exercise. I haven't tried the "dietary supplements" as I take several medications and don't want/need to take any more pills. That said, I was surfing the web a month ago and came across TriSlim. What caught my eye was the picture of Oprah Winfrey & Dr. Oz. Knowing the trouble Oprah has with her weight, I read through the article which was short on facts but filled with hyperbole. The offer was a FREE 30 day supply, the customer paying only $4.95 S/H. So, I signed up. They obviously want you to purchase more, but I refused to do so. There was one of those, 'cancel or get charged provisions'. As soon as I completed my transaction, I canceled. Lots of stuff going on in my life, I forgot all about it. I never received anything.

Yesterday (Wednesday) I needed to get some groceries. I checked my bank account and discovered charges of $88.55 and $77.55, along with the $4.95. I was shocked, upset, incensed, very angry, etc. I tried to find the website & was able to do so. There was no contact information. I read every word trying to find some way to reach this outfit. I finally found a toll-free number: 866-407-1022. I spoke with a female who was a robot. All she told me was I had to call someone else to get money back. That call was 8 1/2 minutes. So, I then called: 877-238-2124. I spoke to a male who apparently went to the same training as the woman I had talked to. He repeated the mantra that he can only refund 90%. The 10% restocking fee must be requested by e-mail. I asked to speak to a supervisor, no one available. I asked for a phone number for TriSlim, they don't have one. Can you imagine a legitimate business without a phone? He did provide an address, which was a P.O. Box. (TriSlim, P.O. Box 3540, Silver Springs, NV 89429) Red flags a popping up all over the place. I got the e-mail address after 20 minutes of telling this 'feller' that I never ordered anything, never received anything, never authorized payment. Therefore, his employer stole money from me and I wanted it back NOW, today. He told me again & again, he would process a refund for 90%. Their paperwork shows that the 'merchandise' was delivered by USPS, to my address. It wasn't.

After that call, I proceeded to write an e-mail to send to [email protected]. I detailed the above information and requested an immediate refund. I then went to Oprah's website, advising of my encounter, I only chose the product because of her 'endorsement'. I posted a message on the site. As for my bank, Union Bank of California, I reported the transaction as fraud. I then found a form at USPS where I also reported fraud. I am hoping that the Oprah endorsement was a lapse in judgment.

So, this is my warning to all; STAY AWAY FRIM TRISLIM, COLOCURE. They took $171.50 from me. I live on a fixed income and this will take its toll. I was told by the employee on the 2nd call that it will take 5-7 days to process the 90% refund /credit.

I will update this situation as it progresses.
