Kansas has just passed a law that makes it illegal to drive in the left lane unless you are passing, in an emergency, or you're 80 in a Cadillac with the blinker on.
All across the country, state governments are trying to make the roads safer with more laws.
But laws don't make us safer. Montana had lower fatality rates when their highways didn't even have speed limits.
No, the reason accidents are up is because there are more idiots on the road.
And unless you want to start wallowing in the gene pool, they're a given.
So what can we do?
Well, we already have laws against speeding, reckless driving, and DUI. We could enforce them and try to nail the real dangerous drivers, OR we could create technology that creates the illusion of safety, but in reality is actually a money grab for local governments. Hmm I wonder which way we'll go?
I think that a drivers license should be harder to get. Really. Instead of parallel parking, make women change lanes while applying make-up, or make men navigate with a cup of coffee between their thighs.
And for seniors...
Well, lets give them a brake. They earned it.
Just stay to the right turn that signal off will ya.
