Paying for Grades

I covered a story last week about a middle school in North Carolina that let kids pay for grades. You heard me right. $40 for an A, $20 for a B, $10 for a C...and F, that's on the house.

The middle school in North Carolina was having trouble raising money, the brownies weren't selling so well, so the principal, came up with this idea. Let the kids buy good grades. Apparently, she was eating a different kind of brownie.

Now, as you might expect, controversy ensued. BUT, here's where it really gets scary

The ethical dilemma was not attacked, it instead descended into a class war. This program was not fair to poor kids. Shazaam...The poor kids in North Carolina couldn't buy the good grades that the rich kids could afford.

Now as I tell you this story, the outcome is still unclear. BUT one of two things seems certain.

Either the state will put an end to this ridiculous, ethically challenged practice, or they'll start a grade welfare program for kids. I think either way, I'd like a brownie. No, the other kind.
