Longtime San Diego Chargers star running back LaDainian Tomlinson recently told Yahoo! Sports that the team had invited him back for one last bout of punishing runs up the middle. He claimed to have met Chargers Executive Vice President John Spanos, Head Coach Mike McCoy, and General Manager Tom Telesco in a restaurant. "They brought it up," said Tomlinson. "At first I thought they weren’t really serious, but they kept talking about it, and I realized it was real. They said, ‘You can come back and carry it 10 or 12 times a game. We’d like to have you here.’”
"No, no, no," says Dan Ajkontrol, the Chargers' official team apologist. "We said we'd like to win 10 or 12 games, like we did when he was here. I can't believe he misinterpreted our words the way he did. The guy must have gotten knocked in the head once too often, you know what I mean? No, wait - don't print that."
