A Teacher in the Hizzy
Slang comes and goes, all slang. It's like gnarley, rad, tubuler,....whatever it is you 80's babies used. Then before that it was jive, hip and solid....then we can keep going. "Dude" seems to be the only word that hasn't come and gone. Anything with "dat" in it, is basically used by those under 12 and those above 40, trying to make fun of a more urban slang. Instead of "true dat"...change to "true" and, it's used.— November 21, 2008 11:27 a.m.

Beast, I'm sorry you needed me to claify, I've heard you guys and the only thing I'd give is a slight sholder shrug and a "eh" to those next to me. It's a very typical rhyming style. Sure, not typical of what's playing on the radio, but typical as far as hip hop circuits go. I figured posting my general opinion as to why so much of rap is lacking, kind of covered that. There's actually a link on this site to hear one of your tracks for anyone who would want to check you guys out that haven't heard of you. MarkMy isn't terrible, and there are PLENTY of others I'd like to see wiped off the map who are just plain garbage. BUT, writing about your wife, or baby to be, doesn't score you any originality points. Sure, it's sweet and I'm not knocking that aspect of it. But just because you do that, it doesn't mean you've got originality. People who think that's original, still think crews like Living Legends are "underground", or unknown. Regardless, you obviously have more supporters on here then knockers. And, I'm not even trying to knock you, I'm just voicing how I feel about a lot of current hip hop in general....so much nothing new.— November 21, 2008 9:39 a.m.

People over 40 (or on the heels of it) are THE ONLY people who use the word "hizzy" anymore.— November 21, 2008 9:17 a.m.
What are your thoughts on the election?
I like that the rest of the world is excited about our President elect. It's a big change. I'm not saying France is who we need approval from, but that example shows that many countries out there, are seeing us as people in a different light.— November 21, 2008 9:15 a.m.

Pete, I'm curious where you see the racist undertones? Can you actually pull lines and quote? Because, I can see where you'd think people he's writing about in the article, may be racist, but Josh doesn't seem to say anything about his personal opinon on anything, except that most black people probably voted for Obama - which is absolutely true (and nothing wrong with it). Not attacking, just wondering if you could point out lines, just so I could see examples of what you're talking about, that maybe I missed.— November 20, 2008 3:56 p.m.
Who’s the Diva?
Supposedly, her show is cancelled. Maybe this has something to do with it?— November 20, 2008 9:59 a.m.
What are your thoughts on the election?
I was watching Letterman the other night, he had that Italian model chick who married the French President on as a guest. He asked her what France thought of the election. She said all of France was thrilled, and that in fact all of Europe shared that feeling. I've heard so many foreigners state this when asked. This is all an obvious breath of fresh air for not only us, but for the world. And as a people, I feel like we're redeeming ourselves to the world. But then there is always Prop 8............— November 20, 2008 9:56 a.m.
Red, White, and Green Day
So, people stood with their signs, in Golden Hall? Such a confined space to have screaming matches between one an other, especially when you've all already have voted and are just waiting for results. The picture is pretty amusing. First time I saw opposing signs next to each other. It was either all "No on 8" signs in the Hillcrest/NPark area, or "Yes on 8" signs up in Poway. Personally I was shocked and disappointed 8 passed. Hopefully our courts will review, and overturn.— November 20, 2008 9:47 a.m.
Beyonce & Yusuf in the House
Well, in the articles you read, were they actually trying to put down a certain track because the writer was white? Because I could see only doing it for visual purposes. Letting people know it's not this chick who's writing squat, it's everyone from Missy Elliot to White Guy McGee. It makes for a good visual, to know it's across the board. She's had a few lawsuits against her for stealing songs of other unknown artists. She's whick-whick-whack, but between daddy, the booty, and now hubby Jay-Z we're far from seeing the last of her. Boo.— November 20, 2008 9:41 a.m.

This reviewer is actually better then some bonehead from SD who is just going to be biased and review most (or all) of SD Hip Hop as fresh because either they're either: A) Homies or B) Wanting to show "mad love" to the SD Hip Hop Scene and put it on the map. No where in the review does the reviewer try to imply rap is a fad. If anything, it's quite the contrary only stating what many feel. That so many "artists" out there are just regurgitating a lot of the same rhymes, beats and styles. It's tiring, and sad. It does show though, that those (few and far between) who can emerge as original now days really have a skill and are a nice breath of fresh air. If this were the case with NOTB, I have no doubt we would have heard it. It's just same ol' stuff, thrown up in a slightly different puke color.— November 20, 2008 9:36 a.m.
