"He seems unable to write a lyric that hasn’t been rapped and re-rapped hundreds of times". This is the main problem with rap in general. Since it's big boom in the 90's everyone thinks they're "dope" and has jumped on the rapper train. Sure, maybe they can write a catchy line (or jibba jab) here and there, but for the majority nothing new has been said for quite sometime. Of course, there are the exceptions out there, as there will always be, but damn people - get with the program. Stop regifting.— November 19, 2008 6:49 p.m.
Cinema Valore - Lakeview Terrace
This movie looked like IT SUCKED from the trailers. Redo of a redo of a redo. Same crap, different flick. Basically Hand That Rocks The Cradle, but replaced the blonde with an black guy.— October 28, 2008 8:41 p.m.
Saturday Night Sarah
Not only are you one of the few people without DVR/Tivo, you're also one of the few people who still own a VCR. I really have a hard time getting on board with a lot of comedy sketches. For me, they're usually a miss. And, I RARELY think comedy sketches done with rap are funny because it's ALWAYS the same joke, like how white people can't dance, or a white guys with chains and a side ways viser with gold chains going "yo, yo, yo" 500 time over, or something else a white persons doing over exaggerated style. It's been played out over the past 10 years, and it's just not funny anymore (or very, very rarely at least ... because i'ts lost that whole originallity factor and has been done to death). But, I did catch the Pollard rap on SNL and I must agree that it was fairly amusing. Pollard has the ability to take it, have fun with it and make it work. Oddly enough, I don't think Palin doing it would have done it for me.— October 20, 2008 1:11 p.m.
Divorces in the News
Wait, you start this off with saying a couple divorces in the news have suprised you......and then you list Madonna/Ritchie and Leoni/Duchoveny. REALLY? Madonna getting divorced suprised you? And, after hearing the whole Duchoveny story unravel it shouldn't be that suprising to anyone Leoni hit the road in her new UFO.— October 18, 2008 5:07 p.m.
Cinema Valore - Dark Knight
The problem is, Ledger's hype in this role isn't overrated. It actually fits perfectly. Sure Bale, Eckhart. Oldman and whoever else did a suberb job in this movie. Yet it's obvious to anyone who has seen the film (who doesn't have their bat utility belt lodged up their a**) to see why Ledger is getting so much praise. His character was all over the place, and he played that hot mess perfectly. I'm serious about Willis though. Can you imagine how hard it would be to play yourself WITH A BEARD in a film? I mean that,....that's going to deserve a lot more praise then this. We've overhyped Hollywood so much, they're onto strokin themselves down 24/7.— October 18, 2008 5:03 p.m.
Cinema Valore - Dark Knight
Whoa! Online video blogs now? Taking away from the mystery, but adding to the excitment. I dig this. Heath Ledger was insanely fantastic in this movie. If he was alive, he'd still have all of Hollywood sitting pretty in the little kangaroo like pouch attached to his Aussie go-nads. His performance is not overrated. If you're going to go down that path, acting, Hollywood and all awards involved are overrated. And well, that just makes overrated, overrated. I wouldn't drop cash on the line in Vegas just yet that he'll win the big award. Afterall, there is that DiNero movie coming out, with Bruce Willis playing the roll of Bruce Willis and that beard is probably going to be up for nomination. Pretty much everyone cast in this movie fits well. But you have to be able to see that Ledgers roll required a lot, and he stepped right up to the plate, Casey Jones style. Well, maybe more like Canseco style....or Bonds.— October 18, 2008 midnight
Moped Mishap Costs NBA Star Millions
Damn, and here I always day dreamed of buying a motorized bicycle if I became a millionaire. Monta was obviously into bigger things, so when he got handed that contract for 66 million it was off to the moped store we go. Bling, freaking, bling. (Actually, there is something very "childlike cute" in all of this - but still you don't screw with terms of contract). Next episode of MTV cribs "this is my moped, it oozes pure awesomeness. Any of you ladies need a ride?". Actually, my mother always wanted me to get a Vespa when I was younger. She grew up in Europe and I suspect she always wanted one but never got it (obviously, she should have been trying for the NBA) so she tried to convince me I should get one. But, that's just not going to happen. I don't think they're silly, just not something I want. Although, I would probably laugh my ass off seeing someone over 6 foot on one. Josh, you left out that he (or someone) initially lied about where his injuries came from. At first, it was reported it happened at a pick up game of basketball. Then they found out it was due to a moped accident. Mopeds are actually forbidden from use in his contract. At least it was a moped and not a motorcycle, like Roethlisberger. I think this is the first season I can look at him and feel like he has fully recovered from that accident.— October 14, 2008 8:38 a.m.
The Girlfriend, Part Deux
From another website - (maybe you'll get lucky, and it will be her "time of the month"....then, according to rule number #3) Sharks of Hawai`i . . . Here Are Ten Safety Tips To Reduce The Risk Of Shark Attack 1. Swim, surf or dive with other people, and don't move too far away from assistance. 2. Stay out of the water at dawn, dusk and night when some species of sharks move inshore to feed. 3. Do not enter the water if you have open wounds or are bleeding in any way. Sharks can detect blood and body fluids in very small concentrations. 4. Avoid murky waters, harbor entrances, and other areas near stream mouths (especially after heavy rains), channels or steep drop offs. These types of waters are are known to be frequented by sharks. 5. Do not wear high-contrast clothing or shiny jewelry. Sharks see contrast very well. 6. Refrain from excessive splashing; keep pets which swim erratically, out of the water. Sharks are known to be attracted to such activity. 7. Do not enter the water if sharks are are known to be present, and leave the water quickly and calmly if one is sighted. Do not provoke or harass a shark, even a small one. 8. Be alert to the activity of fish or turtles. If they start to behave erratically, leave the water. A shark may be present. 9. Remove speared fish from the water or tow them a safe distance beyond you. Do not swim near people fishing or spear fishing. Stay away from dead animals in the water. 10. Swim or surf at beaches patrolled by lifeguards, and follow their advice.— October 2, 2008 9:01 a.m.
The Girlfriend, Part Deux
Info from a website - "In Hawaii, without knowing it, thousands of people come in close contact with sharks each year while swimming, surfing, and boating. Although the rate of shark attacks in Hawaii remains steady at about three per year, the number of people in the water continues to climb. Thus, the number of Hawaii shark attacks is negligible. Tiger sharks are one of three main shark species known to attack humans, and are responsible for most shark attacks in Hawaii. Only about three shark attacks occur per year in Hawaii and few shark attacks are fatal. The Hawaii shark attack rate is surprisingly low considering thethousands of people who swim, surf and dive in Hawaiian waters every day. By comparison, more people are killed by dogs in the U.S. every year than have been killed by shark attacks in the last 100 years. Of course the best way to learn about sharks is to see them in real life. However, here are some great websites with verified shark information - Not like the sensational crap on TV."— October 2, 2008 8:57 a.m.
