On the Benefits of Recreational Summertime Walking through Death Valley
Attacking someone's position on an issue is different than attacking the person. I'm sure aszresource knows that. If a person doesn't believe in gay marriage, than he/she shouldn't marry gay. Why does the right have to tell others what to do? Blueevy: What if a person doesn't believe in God? I do not. Why should I, a person who lives in a country with religious freedom, be forced to follow the dictates of those who do? I believe gay marriage is a civil rights issue, and is no worse than if blacks or other minorities, were denied their rights. If gays are not treated equally, then I don't believe they should have to pay tazes, because they aren't being treated equally. Maybe your God doesn't believe in gay marriage, but the God of the gays does.— August 16, 2010 10:32 p.m.
Permit an insolvent city to subsidize a Charger stadium?
Re: #61 Visduh, I believe you are referring to the comments posted in the articles and staff blogs, while I am referring to comments in the nonstaff blogs. It is a completely different game. Last year, I told a LCSW about the stuff that goes on here, particularly in regard to comments by Refriedgringo and Sdaniels. She was disgusted, and called it "appalling," that this would be allowed to gone on. So even though the comments posted on the NCT and Trib sites are probably written by a bunch of dumb, uneducated kids (that's my impression), that doesn't make what goes on here, any better. However, I do agree that things are more civilized in places where the issues are being discussed, rather than the neighborhood blogs. About our disagreements, I don't recall agreeing or disagreeing with you, one way or the other. Maybe you're just saying that in a generic way. Josh used to say, "I know we haven't always gotten along..." and I'd say, "Since when?"— August 16, 2010 4:18 p.m.
Permit an insolvent city to subsidize a Charger stadium?
The commentators aren't rude, but I recently posted a story on another site, naming the bloggers/posters/stringers who have left the site because they "couldn't take it anymore." If you aren't going to pay people to post on a site, then you should at least be courteous, and the Reader has not been courteous. They say they don't allow harrassment, but they do. They allow staff members such as Jay to schmooze, play favorites, and take sides. They allow the Diva to make snippy comments to diegonomics. We are customers, not your slaves. But what happens here, fits in with the reputation of the Reader, in general. Comic Con wouldn't allow Josh a press pass, the mayor won't allow city employees to talk to "The Reader," former mayor Susan Golding wouldn't allow Josh into a party. I attribute all of this to the fact that the Reader is run by men, and it is one of the reasons why I firmly believe women should rule the world.— August 16, 2010 4 p.m.
Permit an insolvent city to subsidize a Charger stadium?
I'd be in favor of that--allowing bloggers to delete comments, or how about blocking comments from certain posters? Or have comments only if you want them? Most of the people on this site are pretty rude. I've been reading comments on youtube, and was surprised when I didn't encounter one rude comment. Every one of them was about how much he/she loved the music. Quite a different world.— August 16, 2010 1:12 a.m.
Russian boars let loose on Capitan Grande Indian Reservation

Pesky Piercings and Other family Issues
Every generation has to take being outrageous up a notch. It's getting scary, because there isn't much left to do--cut your arm off? Poke out an eye? I hate to see kids making drastic decisions that will affect them for the rest of their lives. The purple hair will come and go--maybe even the piercings will as well--but tattoos last forever. Have you seen how bad they look when they are removed? Someone needs to improve on the current technology that leaves the outline of the tattoo in pink skin. The original tattoo looks better. As it turned out, my son is a white-collar worker with a Fortune 500 company. If he had done things your way, Surfpuppy, he would now be the head cashier at Blockbuster Video. Mom always knows best.— August 9, 2010 12:34 a.m.
Praise and Blame
Tom and I go way back too. I've been in love with him since I was twelve, and hearing this, I was invited to be his personal guest at his show at Ceasar's Palace on my 21st birthday. It was the best night of my life. I don't now how appealing his music is now that he's singing it without the tight pants, but wth, I'll give it a try. He's always had a soulful voice, perhaps his new album won't be so bad. I've had all of the "What's New Pussycat?" I can handle.— August 9, 2010 12:18 a.m.
Pesky Piercings and Other family Issues
Surfpuppy: You may not mind hiring someone for an executive position who has piercings and tattoos, but that doesn't go for everybody. It's wise to not put them in obvious places (particularly not your face)because it would be stupid to be denied a job simply because the person doing the hiring has a biased against it. I wanted a tatto in the 1970s, but my friends wouldn't let me get one. I wouldn't want one now because everyone is doing it. They're all doing the same thing to show their origninality--how smart is that? My daughter-in-law is a beautiful woman but she has one of those big, ugly rings in her ear. It actually detracts from her beauty--my eyes just naturally go to that big round ring. I don't think it looks nice, and I'm not exactly what people would call a prude. Most of these tattoos and piercings aren't appealing to the eye, and it's unfortunate that this generation has had to take the simple ear piercings of yesteryear that much further. It has me fearful of what my granddkids will do next. Have you seen the video where kids are taking vodka shots to the eye? Good God!— August 8, 2010 3:17 p.m.

My bf is a hindu from Calcutta, and I will say, Indian men do have a certain charm. She should ask him about a yoni massage.— August 8, 2010 12:03 a.m.
Workin at the disc golf shop
I often walk my dogs in Kit Carson Park, but I've never seen the disc golf shop. I'll have to look for it.— August 7, 2010 11:57 p.m.
