Southwestern College Foundation Under Investigation
Here's an excerpt from BCAs website written by a Focuscom consultant. Did BCA --which worked for both schools--subcontract Focuscom? Just curious if anyone knew --------- BCA Architects Nominated for Prestigious Orchid Award for Sweetwater High School’s Gateway Complex -- The annual Orchids and Onions ceremony for best and worst in San Diego architecture is on October 27, 2011 by Tomas Urtasun SAN DIEGO, CALIF. (October 11, 2011) – BCA Architects has been nominated for the coveted Orchid Award for Sweetwater High School’s new Gateway Complex, qualifying the California educational architectural specialists for the Sustainable Design and People’s Choice categories. Presented each year by the San Diego Architectural Foundation,

anniej, I remember that the UT was able to get copies of Alevy's itemized account. To date, no one has seen Focuscom's itemized account in regards to their services for Sweetwater, right?

John Q, That's an interesting perspective. I can be contacted through the reader site by just clicking on my name...then there's the DA's hotline.....

Sweetwater's Funds for Education
oskidoll, you obviously have a great deal of information about Chula Vista's history. Your comments on the Sweetwater U article show land use history too. I appreciate your comments and the breadcrumbs you throw on the path. As I recall, the district attorney's affidavits refer to Quinones being a friend to one of the Inzunza's. Thanks

Sweetwater's Funds for Education
Erupting, I think the article would have been improved if Mr.Zarecky would have been willing to answer the many questions I had prepared for him. One thing Dr. Brand has consistently done is return calls and answe Thank you for your comments. Susan

The Rich Relationship of Sweetwater Union and Seville Group Inc.
I just spoke with two people who were offering food for thought on the Vega report. Each of them pointed to the fact that the Vega report was done by an attorney who had defended the district before the grand jury (Vega) and constructed the contact for GCR former district counsel. These people, who were not from the Sweetwater district, were suggesting that another investigation might be in order of the material.

fooforever, You say you will never vote for a bond again and certainly the background to the recent bonds continues to pile up. It's really unfortunate because if a school needed to be retrofitted or whatever our inclination would be to say yes. I would go for a bond that had direct classroom impact -- class size, aides in the classroom, etc. It's a sad state of affairs.

Burwell, In response to your comment: Cartmill and McCann are not well known. The Republican power elite could care less if Cartmill and McCann are prosecuted and would do nothing to help them. Neither of them are rising stars. McCann is perhaps on the Republican map, and a possible rising star. He ran for California Assembly in 2008 and for Sweetwater Union in 2010. Both times he was given a great deal of support by the Lincoln Club. People say, though of course people say a lot of things, that he is planning on running for assembly again, and beyond that mayor of Chula Vista.

Pancho, thanks for the compliment and thanks for asking about the Vega report. When Gandara was superintendent, the district hired through their attorney (Bonifacio Garcia) two public relations firms with principals Scott Alevy and Dan Hom. (Alevy being a former CV council member and Hom a former council candidate.) Anyway, the firms were hired to work on labor negotiations but in a good investigative piece the UT found that people who Alevy billed for meeting with said they had not met with him or the content of the meeting was different. The invoice from Alevy also says he met with three candidates for the Sweetwater board (this was just prior to the Nov 2010 elections.) Some people allege election tampering. Board President McCann ordered an investigation by an attorney named Vega. The board has the Vega report but has refused so far to release it. Releasing it would help clear the air. Written in haste, tell me if it's not clear. Susan

Charges Filed Against Current and Former Sweetwater Union HS District Officials
Fred and annie, I very much appreciate your comments--it's important to know that people are reading and thinking about these issues and hopefully that translates into something better for all. Fred, your question about McCann--and for many people the other board member, Jim Cartmill, is a question that I have heard from many, many people. I have heard that there is more coming down--in terms of warrants. I have heard that it's all is simply in the reporting of donations and gifts. And, of course, there is a lot of discussion about the mayoral elections. For now, separate from what the district attorney's office will or can do, I think it's important for all of us to use the county registrar of voter's financial disclosure site. The contributions and contributors to Ricasa, McCann and Cartmill in the 2010 elections should be looked at when considering the unfolding Sweetwater travesty.

Southwestern College Foundation Under Investigation
Here's an excerpt from BCAs website written by a Focuscom consultant. Did BCA --which worked for both schools--subcontract Focuscom? Just curious if anyone knew --------- BCA Architects Nominated for Prestigious Orchid Award for Sweetwater High School’s Gateway Complex -- The annual Orchids and Onions ceremony for best and worst in San Diego architecture is on October 27, 2011 by Tomas Urtasun SAN DIEGO, CALIF. anniej, I remember that the UT was able to get copies of Alevy's itemized account. To date, no one has seen Focuscom's itemized account in regards to their services for Sweetwater, right?— January 14, 2012 5:59 p.m.

John Q, That's an interesting perspective. I can be contacted through the reader site by just clicking on my name...then there's the DA's hotline.....— January 14, 2012 2:13 p.m.

oskidoll, you obviously have a great deal of information about Chula Vista's history. Your comments on the Sweetwater U article show land use history too. I appreciate your comments and the breadcrumbs you throw on the path. As I recall, the district attorney's affidavits refer to Quinones being a friend to one of the Inzunza's. Thanks— January 12, 2012 7:59 p.m.

Erupting, I think the article would have been improved if Mr.Zarecky would have been willing to answer the many questions I had prepared for him. One thing Dr. Brand has consistently done is return calls and answe Thank you for your comments. Susan— January 11, 2012 8:27 p.m.

I just spoke with two people who were offering food for thought on the Vega report. Each of them pointed to the fact that the Vega report was done by an attorney who had defended the district before the grand jury (Vega) and constructed the contact for GCR former district counsel. These people, who were not from the Sweetwater district, were suggesting that another investigation might be in order of the material.— January 9, 2012 9:29 a.m.

fooforever, You say you will never vote for a bond again and certainly the background to the recent bonds continues to pile up. It's really unfortunate because if a school needed to be retrofitted or whatever our inclination would be to say yes. I would go for a bond that had direct classroom impact -- class size, aides in the classroom, etc. It's a sad state of affairs.— January 8, 2012 8:04 p.m.

People say, though of course people say a lot of things, that he is planning on running for assembly again, and beyond that mayor of Chula Vista.— January 8, 2012 7:55 p.m.

Susan— January 8, 2012 3:15 p.m.

The contributions and contributors to Ricasa, McCann and Cartmill in the 2010 elections should be looked at when considering the unfolding Sweetwater travesty.— January 6, 2012 8:15 p.m.
