Changeling
Duncan's review couldn't be more off on this movie. This is one of my top five movies of the year so far and a likely candidate for best picture. I can't belive he would give this movie anything less than 3 stars. It was well written, produced, filmed, directed, and acted. Angelina Jolie, John Malkovic, and Jeffrey Donovan all turn in excellent performances. Donovan should be nominated for best supporting actor for playing such an incredible douchebag, Captain JJ Jones. This film is disturbing on so many levels. Disturbing because a woman's son goes missing and she calls the police to file a report only to be told that he will probably turn up in the morning. Disturbing that the LAPD would try to pawn off another kid on Christine Collins and try to convince her into believing that it wasn't her son. Like any mother wouldn't be able to recognize their child? What kind of balls did that take to orchestrate all of those shenanigans. Disturbing that when Collins spoke out to the press, the police arrested her and had her committed to a mental institution with other women that had been involved in incidents that put a damper on the police department's public image. Disturbing that a guy on a ranch was kidnapping children and slaughtering them and the LAPD didn't know about it for over a year. It was a story that needed to be told and I'm glad I saw it. Thank you Clint Eastwood.

Better Homes and Gardens McMillin Realty
A nice change of pace from more expensive sit down restaurants. My wife and I eat here at least once a month and save a lot of money without going hungry. We always order the pizza dinner for one meal and upgrade the petite salad to a small salad. It comes with a mini pizza, small caesar salad and 3 breadsticks. We add on another small lemon chicken salad, 2 fountain drinks, and if we are hungry then a few more breadstick. The total comes out to around $23 including tax. If you have a $5 off coupon, which you can usually find in the mail at least once a month, then then you can have the entire meal for $18. Not a bad deal at all.

Irredeemable Bond
For a Bond movie I think you have to call Quantum of Solace a disappointment. The storyline was weak, the villian wasn't very scary, and it lacks several key Bond elements. There were no cool Bond gadgets to stop bad guys. The infamous bond theme song didn't get played until the end credits. The token Bond girl was in the movie for less than 10 minutes and didn't really play any factor into the storyline. All that plus the ending was very unclimatic. Daniel Craig plays a good James Bond but he needs more to work with. He has been turned into more of a Jason Bourne action hero rather than a suave, sophisted, classy British spy.

Role Models
Paul Rudd tests his screenplay writing skills in Role Models. It is a good idea in concept but it isn't executed as well as it could have been. The characters end up becoming repeats of other characters from similar comedy movies. Paul Rudd's character resembles the same guy he played in 40 Year Old Virgin. Sean William Scott is basically Steve Stiffler re-invented. Jane Lynch is basically a hybrid of the sexually agressive boss in 40 Year Old Virgin with a touch of granny from Talladega Nights. Elizabeth Banks doesn't really do a whole lot for her role except just take up space as the love interest for Rudd. The best part of the movie are the two kids. Christopher Mintz-Plasse is very amuzing as a way too serious L.A.I.R.E (similar to Dungeons&Dragons) player. Everytime I watched him I pictures him as McLovin from Superbad. The star of the movie was Bobb'e Thompson (Ronnie). He played a foul mouthed, boob obsessed 10 year old, hell bent on making life miserable for Sean William Scott. They had great on screen chemistry and ended up making the movie a decent buddy comedy. There isn't a whole lot in theaters right now so this movie is a good option.

Zack and Miri Make a Porno
If you are a fan of Kevin Smith's previous movies (Clerks, Mallrats, Jay&Silent Bob Strike Back, Dogma) then the kinds of things you'll see in this movie shouldn't shock you. Kevin Smith is all about shock value and pushing the limit and he does plenty of that in this movie. There are plenty of awkward situations, "Oh that's gross" scenes, and "I can't believe they did that" moments. The storyline is pretty simple. Zack and Miri run out of money and come up with the idea of making a porno starring themselves. It becomes pretty predictable early on how the movie is going to end. The only fault I saw in the movie was that it couldn't decide if it wanted to be a comedy or a love story. It turns out becoming a combination of both and that takes away some of the humor from film. My recommendation: save some money and wait for the DVD.

None
One of the best kept secret in town. Shhhh, don't tell anyone but this is just the take our version of PF Chang's at a fraction of the price. They are owned by PF Chang's and have many of the same menu items but it is set up in a to go style format. You can eat in at the restaurant and they will bring your food to the table but that is the end of the service. You get your own drinks from the machine and there is a basket of fortune cookies where you can grab as many as you like. The honey seared shrimp is a delicious entree and the cool lettuce wraps make a great appetizer for sharing.

Black Angus Steakhouse
We go to this restaurant and always have the same thing every time...the dinner for 2 special. There is usually a coupon for this meal in the mail or the newspaper every week so you shouldn't ever have to pay full price for it. It is an excellent combo. You get a soup or salad to start (both of which are delicious). Secondly, you get to choose any appetizer - I reccommend the chicken tenders so you don't get too full. The main dish is either one of several different cuts of meat, chicken, or fish plus a side dish. The garlic mashed potatoes are great. Then you choose a dessert to finish it off. Bring your appetite because you will leave stuffed.

Religulous
Agnostics and Atheists stand up and be heard! This is the movie you have been waiting for. I loved this movie because it made me think and me want to talk about it afterwards. Bill Maher is nothing short of a comedic genius and I hope the Academy of Motion Pictures honors him with an Oscar this year for this brilliant piece of filmwork. What he did was nothing extraordinary, but simply stating the facts that are written out in every religious gospel that is read around the world. It doesn't matter if you are religious or not, you need to see this movie. If you are one of those religious people that says that this guy is a liberal left-wing trouble maker then don't see the movie. You probably don't have the intelligence to understand the points he is trying to make anyways. You have to watch this movie with an open mind. If you are religious and firmly stand by your beliefs then nothing he says during the movie should change those beliefs. You have nothing to lose. I hope this film gains more attention and gets played in additional theaters because more people need to see this. Currently, it is only playing in 3 theaters. Spread the word!

Oggi's Pizza & Brewing Co.
I have been here a couple of times since they opened back in May. The service has been really good however expect a long wait to be seated. Especially, if you come on the weekends during a sporting event. The restaurant is not very large so seating is limited and people will jeopardize tables for hours if there is a game on. They have a great selection of pizzas but that is just half of their menu. They have several tasty sandwiches, salads, and other entrees to satisfy you as well. If you are wanting an entree but want to try to some pizza as well then I reccommend ordering the appetizer that is similar to the pizza (pizza sticks I think its called).

Islands
I typically eat here twice a month and am a big fan of the Island's chain. There Kobb Salad is one of the best I've ever had and their cheese fries are a delicious appetizer. I only negative thing I can say about this place is that the service can be kind of spotty at times. Your experience hinges highly on your server. You can sit down, have your order taken, and have your food out to you in 10 minutes, or you can be sitting there staring at the surfers on the TV monitors for a good 30 minutes before anything comes out. My suggestion is to sit in the bar area. The two guys working the bar area are great. They are quick, friendly, and don't forget to bring you re-fills. Plus, you have all the TV's that you can watch sports on.

Thank you Clint Eastwood.— November 22, 2008 11:06 p.m.
Not a bad deal at all.— November 16, 2008 10:10 p.m.
He has been turned into more of a Jason Bourne action hero rather than a suave, sophisted, classy British spy.— November 16, 2008 10:05 p.m.
There isn't a whole lot in theaters right now so this movie is a good option.— November 8, 2008 11:32 p.m.
My recommendation: save some money and wait for the DVD.— November 1, 2008 10:05 p.m.
The honey seared shrimp is a delicious entree and the cool lettuce wraps make a great appetizer for sharing.— October 25, 2008 10:35 p.m.
Bring your appetite because you will leave stuffed.— October 25, 2008 10:30 p.m.
Spread the word!— October 25, 2008 10:22 p.m.
If you are wanting an entree but want to try to some pizza as well then I reccommend ordering the appetizer that is similar to the pizza (pizza sticks I think its called).— October 15, 2008 8:02 p.m.
Plus, you have all the TV's that you can watch sports on.— October 15, 2008 7:57 p.m.
