U-T Uses Fire to Smear Aguirre -- Inaccurately, As Always
Don't we have enough politicians for photo ops, sound bites and credit taking? Govenors, Senators, Mayors, Supervisors, and the President of the United States on Thurday. Do we really need our City Attorney to continue to chime in, do we? Wouldn't it be nice if he would "practice law", where he is suppose to have expertise, rather than offering his hairbrained ideas in every discipline there is and every chance he gets. Mr. Aguirre, by my estimation, is getting himself unelected each and everytime HE CHOOSES to participate in matters not related to the duties of his office.— October 24, 2007 1:46 p.m.
U-T Uses Fire to Smear Aguirre -- Inaccurately, As Always
Don, I too was waiting for the UT to take a cheap shot at Aguirre and I think they did, but to be fair Aguirre's memo does say "a voluntary evacuation plan of the entire City be immediately implemented". Note he said the plan should be "immediately implemented", not just created. I love so much of what Aguirre has been doing, that I get frustrated when he oversteps his job duties and gives his enemies ammunition to attack him. I think the same personality trait that allows him to persevere in exposing corruption in the face of withering attacks from the establishment, pushes him to take too many actions that extend beyond his role as CA and risk diluting his effectiveness.— October 24, 2007 11:38 a.m.
Idiot Driver (yes, you)
You are such an ass.— October 20, 2007 1:45 p.m.
Bersin's Building Almost Kisses Sunroad's
Don, Hmmmmm this ones a stretch... You're wordsmithing title gives the reader an impression the buildings are next door to each other. But in fact, they're "driving" miles apart, and as the crow flys, probably a mile or more. The Bersin building is on the landing approach pattern, where the Sunroad structure is in a hazardous takeoff vector. Nevertheless, with nearby interests in such proximity to Montgomery Field, Bersin should have recused himself. I guess your point was more of the same ole politics in San Diego.— October 19, 2007 8:46 a.m.
Will Congress Tackle Sports Subsidies?
Only the rich receives subsidies, poor receive welfare. I’m all for eliminating both. Being said that government surely can find welfare recipients some type of jobs or create special positions. Go Chargers, take Padres with you.— October 17, 2007 12:47 p.m.
U-T Lets Sanders Off Hook Again
What should we expect from Pulitzer winner daily rag? Nothing!— October 17, 2007 12:25 p.m.
Will U-T and Republicans Attack Leslie Devaney?
Tover7 claims he wants "ideas", but shuns real information. KPBS has always slanted its coverage to the Union-Tribune views and never, ever dug deep into local issues. Come on, Tover7, it's run by the San Diego State University for crying out loud. The latest outrage is the cutting of their only TV show dedicated to local issues. And of course, they never report on the status of Steve Weber, the notoriously corruption-plagued athletic department, and the failed real estate development that has cost state tax payers millions of dollars. Tover7 is bottom line disengenous. Tover7 no doubt yearns for the days of Casey Gwinn, when millions of dollars of sports subsidies, retirement benefits, ad nauseum, were given to the insiders at the expense of local taxpayers.— October 16, 2007 7:04 p.m.
Issa's Foot Lands in Mouth Again
What a piece of cow dung Bauder writes here. If Henry waxman goes to Iraq, he would be guarded by Blackwater, period, end of discussion. Issa was right, Waxman needs to go to the scene to investigate not on the Potomac but in Baghdad. Let him take some of his West Hollywood consituients to protect him and let the guys from Blackwater have a day off.— October 16, 2007 3:53 p.m.
Flannery Says Sainz May Have Committed Felony
So did Flannery go to law school when I wasn't looking?— October 15, 2007 10:12 p.m.
Flannery Says Sainz May Have Committed Felony
Mr. Powell believes everyone is naive or slow... I'll let you pick which one. Is it then a coincidence that Reynolds would be fired the day after he gave a warning?— October 15, 2007 4:29 p.m.
