The Ink is Black. The Page is White. A'ight?
It's fascinating... I happen to be the "Tina" that Josh wrote about in this blog. I'm white. I noticed that detail wasn't included in this posting... I made the comment while watching two people who were EXTREMELY rhythmically challenged trying to grind up on each other. It was funny to me... I do feel however, if it were someone of a different race, I would have simply stated that "I love watching people try to dance". Safety commenting on my own race? Maybe. Huge political statement while I am enjoying a concert? Definitely not.— November 1, 2007 12:01 p.m.
Two Years Ago, Think Tank Warned of Inadequate Fire Protection
Actually the Powers That Be consider all San Diego taxpayers as "Anonymous" except those that are taxpayer subsidized members of the U-T establishment. That's the root cause of the new four year San Diego firestorm cycle. Anon— November 1, 2007 3:37 a.m.
Two Years Ago, Think Tank Warned of Inadequate Fire Protection
Correction, Don: You wrote, "The recommendations....may be ignored..." It's a virtual certainty that in fact, "The recommendations....SHALL be ignored..." best, yet another SDBlogger— October 31, 2007 11:49 p.m.
U-T Uses Fire to Smear Aguirre -- Inaccurately, As Always
It is Aguirre's job to be the city attorney not to recommend fire plans. Four years ago we had plenty of smoke in the city and very few people were affected. We have a fire department and a health department to take care of these matters. In any case Aguirre's idea for evacuating the entire city was rediculousr. There's no way it could be done. The evacuation of 500,000 people was possible because most of them went to friend's and rlative's home. People have remarked that Aguirre has attacked corruption in the city. what came from his was lots of sound and fury signifying nothing. It's the district attorney's job to prosecute felony's, not the city attorney's. His attacks have forced the city to hire outside wasting the city's limited funds. In any case there have been no prosecutions based upon his attacks.— October 31, 2007 9:30 p.m.
Three RB Neighborhoods Didn't Get Warnings
Don, how about this concept? Poway got reverse 911 because it got hit later. The Poway reverse 911 calls came around 9:30 AM -- too late for RB. I know that the SDPD got the evacuation orders for RB. What I don't know is what happened after that.— October 31, 2007 4:45 p.m.
Three RB Neighborhoods Didn't Get Warnings
Don, that's why I post here anonymously. I feel that the public has a right to know what's going on -- but I also like my job.— October 31, 2007 12:02 p.m.
Three RB Neighborhoods Didn't Get Warnings
Webwench, sorry if my responses seem to be somewhat evasive. The mayor has a pretty strict policy about media releases from anyone other than his staff. As a city employee, I'm bound by that. I have no idea if reverse 911 was activated for RB. I was just being the devil's advocate and saying that perhaps there is some reason other than "someone screwed up." Frankly, I'm as frustrated as you are. My home is only about a mile or two from Lancashire as well. My wife had to evacuate by herself while I was already fighting the fire. I by no means mean to imply that the folks on Lancashire are stupid. But.. there is some measure of personal responsibility. They live on a canyon. We can't be everywhere at once. Were they "prepared to take personal belongings"? Should there have been more warning? Well, it sure sounds like it. But fires are a tricky thing to predict. I've got to get to work, but I can promise you we're already looking at ways to improve... and our response this time was 100% better than four years ago.— October 31, 2007 6:57 a.m.
Two Years Ago, Think Tank Warned of Inadequate Fire Protection
Don, most importantly, it must be emphasized that former San Diego Fire Chief Jeff Bowman resigned in frustration last year over inadequate firefighting resources and their refusal to accept his recommendations to prevent future firestorms, especially when the U-T's flock of strutting peacocks were then pompously pronouncing "we're off the hook for another ten years, so let's move on other issues." The latest firestorm consequences of their criminal negligence proves beyond all doubt that the highest U-T establishment priority is their larceny of taxpayer money regardless of risks to human life and property, especially the lives of innocent citizens and San Diego's heroic firefighting and law enforcement personnel. But then strutting peacocks love opportunities to admire themselves on their DVRs after each press conference.— October 31, 2007 5:14 a.m.
Three RB Neighborhoods Didn't Get Warnings
Webwench, go back and look at my first post. Why would anyone go to bed under those conditions? Remember that this fire is still under investigation. I think you'll see some information come out in the next couple of days that will help explain what happened to RB as the fire behavior is studied more. One thing... can you provide for me exactly where and when that video was shot?— October 30, 2007 8:03 p.m.
Two Years Ago, Think Tank Warned of Inadequate Fire Protection
Don, you are doing an excellent job with your Blog, and exposing the corruption of U-T Establishment Mayor/Puppet Sanders who uses taxpayer money to subsidize U-T Establishment members instead of giving pay increases to our firefighters who risk their lives for us everyday. It is the sacrifices of our firefighters that allow Sanders et al. to strut around like brainless peacocks, and it is time to vote out all the U-T Establishment peacocks forever.
