Council Sells Out to Developers -- Again
Response to post #12: Re “probably most subscribers buy it for the advertising, not the editorial content” Don, the advertising reason is most certainly true. Most unfortunately though is the fact that the “editorial content” influenced enough non-thinking people to allow U-T Sanders to beat Francis who was the SD GOP candidate. Kittle has successfully produced U-T deranged rant editorials using the Goebbelsian manual of style which emphasizes that if you lie to people often enough far too many start believing the lies. Thus we had three in a row U-T puppet mayors Golding, Murphy and Sanders with the most hellacious consequence of two sets of firestorms in four years because of larceny taxpayer money that was used to subsidize the U-T establishment instead of public safety. Even more interesting is the fact that Sanders was the U-T "Ballot Recommendations" candidate, while Steve Francis was the SD GOP candidate. So even the SD GOP knew better, but the U-T brain-dead class voters won and it's more than an embarrassment, it is pyric. Anon92107— November 7, 2007 11:45 a.m.

Someone should undertake a historical analysis of Union Tribune editorials. From electricity deregulation to the Chargers ticket guarantee, from Mayor Golding to the recent Sunroad fraud, the UT has been on the wrong side of key matters affecting San Diegans. I mean this sincerely when I say the UT editorial positions have been among the most wrongheaded of any major daily paper. A true embarrassment.— November 7, 2007 11:04 a.m.
Council Sells Out to Developers -- Again
Further on your post #5 Don, U-T Editorials and “Ballot Recommendations” are taken as gospel by the brain-dead culture of U-T class voters that elects and re-elects criminally negligent politicians who have given San Diego two hellacious sets of firestorms in 4 years. Interesting that San Diego firestorms now have the same cycle time as some elections, just hope they don’t start creating conditions for firestorms every two years now. The U-T Editorial Board looks like Nero and the burning of Rome as it is. Anon92107— November 7, 2007 10:37 a.m.

Well, one bright spot: Sanders has publicly rejected the Charter Review Committee's attempt to restrict the City Attorney via code amendments. You can download Sanders' memo here: http://voiceofsandiego.org/pdf/sanderscharter1105… See Item 10 in particular. But the "Committee" is a sham, their proposed changes are not in the interests of democracy, and, sadly, most San Diegans don't seem to care about the form of government being foisted upon them. Another item to follow: Marti Emerald's bid for a city council seat. Her election campaign is currently gearing up. Her team is making the grassroots fundraising rounds.— November 7, 2007 2:52 a.m.
Council Sells Out to Developers -- Again
You know Don, the American culture of “youth not reading” and “dumbing down of society” even applies to our politicians who must not have done much reading, and most certainly not much thinking themselves. Denials of reality, especially when it comes to selling out public safety to special interests are rampant throughout our failed local, state and federal governments. Basically, it appears that our failure to achieve equality of education with consequences of “not reading” and “dumbing down” has gone on for far too long with the greatest concern now being the erosion of American Democracy, resulting in the fact that the majority of San Diego politicians are owned and controlled by pro sports, condo and real estate interests, etc. Two sets of hideously out of control firestorms in four years because our heroic firefighters were screwed out of having adequate resources to support their efforts, because of our corrupt politicians and their U-T Establishment, are totally unacceptable consequences that we have to live and die with today as a new way of life in San Diego. The question then becomes What’s Next? Or how long will San Diego taxpayers continue to tolerate out of control corruption that increasingly threatens public safety and health in San Diego? Three RB Neighborhoods Didn't Get Warnings
Aguirre will never be more than a thorn in the side of the wealthy malefactors who've ruined San Diego because he lacks the ability to file felony charges. Many of the crimes he tries to prosecute are actually felonies, and he has to find a legal way to shoehorn a felony offense into a misdemeanor offense so he can prosecute, which isn't easy to do. This explains why many of his criminal prosecutions appear to be completely off the wall. I have no doubt that Aguirre, if elected District Attorney, could find a legal way to engineer the felony prosecutions of Mayor Sanders and most of the City Council. We can only pray that Mike runs for District Attorney and is able to complete the work he has started.— November 6, 2007 9 p.m.

I guess what I tried to ask is : does the UT really care if I cancel, it seems they roll on with their buisness/sports team/builders/anti Mike Aguirre/etc agendas DESPITE their consistent loss of paying subscriber> Mr. Bauder, do you think there is a chance of someone buying that rag and actually trying to provide reaadership with unslanted news on news pages?— November 6, 2007 7:44 p.m.
