Cheerleaders That Aren't #1
As both a parent and a teacher I must say that one of the most pitiful things I see is the way parents obey their children. Parents stand around and wonder why children are a mess when they are the ones who have done the messing. "Where parents do too much for their children, the children will not do much for themselves." Muni Bond Market Turmoil Likely To Hit San Diego
San Diego cannot declare bankruptcy as most people understand it. And, even if it attempts to, the number of unencumbered assets far our weighs its debt and SDCERS is now guaranteed it funding by law and by holding several trust deeds. However, I agree with Don, this fantasy about the bond markets has to end, the people of San Diego got into this mess by electing boneheads for years and it's going to take years to get out it. THere ain't no magic pill, no miracle cure.— November 18, 2007 4:33 p.m.
City Attorney To Sue SDCERS Over $146 Million Fleecing of Taxpayers
Are we not well past the statute of limitation again? If this was such a big issue when they changed the rates in 2003 why did Mike sue when he took office in 2004? Isn't this all part of the litigation currently working its way through Judge Barton's courtroom? Was this already decided in previous litigation and when Judge Barton dismissed the defendants with prejudice from Mr. Aguirre's 6th amended complaint earlier this year. As far as I can tell, the only one benefiting from all of Mr. Aguirres' litigation are peers in his profession who bill the city hourly sometimes for both sides of an issue....— November 17, 2007 4:52 p.m.
Dumb Deaths
Iraq? I don't get it. What is so insightful about that response? Let me guess, you are anti-war. Duh, aren't we all? War sucks. What is your solution? Be apathetic and do nothing, I imagine. Doing nothing has never been an effective strategy to employ. While most of the world did nothing in the 1940's, Hitler steamrolled most of Europe on his way to doing away with anyone and everyone who did not conform. Hmmm... middle eastern radicals have adopted the same offensive attack that Hitler used. First, they terrorized, tortured, and killed their own people and then headed out to dominate the rest of the world. Please prove me wrong and share your effective resolution with the world.— November 17, 2007 2:54 p.m.
No Habla English
Holy cow! Who said anything about not being an official American unless you speak English? You are sounding a trifle paranoid. In addition to seeking help for your paranoia, please take a few U.S. History courses before you spout. We are talking about government agencies. It is absolutely ridiculous for America to continue to cater to every language spoken here. Regardless of your native language you must learn to effectively communicate in English when living in America. I find it odd that people beg, borrow, and steal to come here but yet have no desire to get a handle on the language. Somehow they actually feel entitled to be offended by needing to learn English in order to live in America. You'd think they would feel eternally grateful for the opportunity to live in this country and would WANT to learn the language. In fact, the millions of European immigrants that came here did just that, they learned English. Wow!— November 17, 2007 2:32 p.m.

Aguirre Backs Off Request for Information from KPBS
Don, We know you support Mike for what he's attempting to accomplish at the city. I'm glad he's dropped this KPBS investigation. Once again, I think he's his own worst enemy, and this link: http://video.msn.com/video.aspx?mkt=en-US&brand=m… shows us why.— November 16, 2007 1:15 p.m.

Union-Tribune's Circulation Plunge Second Worst Among Top 25 Dailies
Everyone knows that the only reason that UT Editor Karin Winner holds her job is tit for tat. When the late Helen broke up the marriage of Jim Copley, the doors of La Jolla society were not exactly open to her -- with one exception. The Winners, scions of the Scripps family, gave la Helen some entre into their enclave. As a result, San Diego has a largely untalented ageing La Jolla socialite editing the major metro daily. The UT will never hit the youth market until newsdoll Winner goes and someone who understands the readership comes aboard.— November 16, 2007 11:03 a.m.
