The ISSUE is the development of UTC. What?! Westfield out of control? I go there once or twice a year now. So Westfield isn't building a megamall for me. I can hardly wait for the new SuperTarget and SuperHomeDepot and other incredible mouth dropping improvements due in the next few years down here at Balboa and Genesee. I still have to visit the new Ace Hardware over at the Clairemont Square. That may be my new Home Depot. Crowds ain't my thing.
Who's going to be spending money to support these mega malls? And where does their money come from? — November 29, 2007 9:19 p.m.

People can be very loyal and supportive. The newspaper advertising department over and over severed ties to the community by dealing only as a big business. They could not differentiate people who had no intention from paying for their ads, from people who had dealt with them for many years and would continue to deal with them for many years. This is just a start of the deterioration of the client base and frequency of advertising, but equals a noticeable difference money wise - week after week, month after month, year after year. Everyone prepay. How does that help when people who intentionally do not pay bounce checks, use various DBAs, and refuse to pay. You have to appreciate your business clients and treat them with respect. Everyone knows that it takes much time and money to earn a NEW client rather than keep a current client. They don’t understand that the small businesses ARE the backbone of our economy.— December 3, 2007 12:18 p.m.

Environmental Groups File Suit Over City's Rose Canyon Move
Hi - liberal San Diegan here who generally has HUGE issues with Fumber's comments. HOWEVER - this same environmental group sued the city over the original EIR because it wasn't specific enough; the city de-certified that EIR as part of a settlement agreement w/FRC, and is now trying to prepare an EIR that is specific to a bridge project. FRC does not want the bridge (which has been part of the UC comm. plan since 1950 something - before anyone lived in UC), so they are suing because the authorization of funds to design bridge whose env. impacts would then be studied in a project-specific manner which would comply with their earlier lawsuit...well, my head hurts. FRC - you don't want the bridge. Sue over that. Stop the disingenuous lawsuits re: process.— November 30, 2007 10:24 p.m.

Don: This "streamlining" has cost them me as a paid subscriber. With shrinking fonts, ink darkness making anyone with less than the fighter pilot eyesight I used to have only adding to my continuing frustration with the political vendettas and oversupport and misrepresentations so as to give only favorable "news" on the shenaigans and outwright wrongdoings of Mayor Republican and company, it's sad that I will no longer have a daily newspaper to peruse but the UT leaves me - and I guess will leave others little choice but to get what we need to know from whatever alternative sources we can. AND, in this vein, YOU are a tremendous source of honest reporting and insight into what is really going on in our town. THanks and Best Wishes— November 30, 2007 3:45 p.m.

Girls, women and ladies: Real men would rather pursue a relationship with a flat-chested, natural woman with a great sense of self-worth and self esteem THAN waste time with an insecure, unhappy, gal who's forever trying change to meet some unobtainable perfect image. If forced to choose between woman who values self esteem versus a woman who worships self image, I'd choose the Miss Self Esteem everytime! Ladies, if you are considering implants, the real issue to address may be a bit north of the breasts.— November 29, 2007 8:24 p.m.

Here is a little map of the Park if it is the one we are referencing: http://www.sandiego.gov/park-and-recreation/pdf/r… The most obvious reason: Connect the N/S ends of Regents Road with a bridge to bypass the Coaster. I'll bet the City gets lots of complaints about Regents.— November 29, 2007 8:10 p.m.
