Federal Agency Charges Former City Auditing Firm with Fraud

Federal Agency Charges Former City Auditing Firm with Fraud
Or will each one point to the other as the culprit?— December 11, 2007 11:08 a.m.
Federal Agency Charges Former City Auditing Firm with Fraud
So were getting down to it now...City Management and its auditors in colusion to defraud the workers and taxpayers... When will our former City Executives, former and current elected officials be held accountable for their actions in this debacle?— December 11, 2007 11:07 a.m.
Charges Against Moores Dismissed in Civil Suit
John Moores belongs in jail, and his political prostitute Jack McGrory should be his cell mate. Moores while stuffing $650 of fraud into his pockets simultaneously cried his precious Padres were poor. He ripped off the city for not just $145 million in direct cash subsidies, he also turned around and built condos instead of the promised offices, attempted to eliminate the tiny park, and took control through eminent domain of about a tenth of our downtown. Let's not forget that the freakish Padres trip to the world series, weeks before the vote on Prop. C, rested primarily on steroids and meth. Yet Papa John and his bought and paid for city government, (including former staff, state legislators, former prosecutors, et al.), still receive slavering adoration from the UT and misguided sports fans. Can anyone really think that justice has been served in San Diego when this notorious criminal remains on the loose? Why are there only civil cases? Is any prosecutor or judge out there NOT in the pay of John Moores?— December 8, 2007 10:17 p.m.
Making Fun of Parents
I've never seen you in a movie. So what does that say?— December 8, 2007 6:37 p.m.
U-T's Bungled Buyout Will Probably Lead to Best People Leaving
The UT has decided to keep the nine-member Spanish-language section, Enlace, because the senior editor who beefed up Enlace over the past few years has been living with a Mexican woman who promotes Baja California events and tourism, and has been an Enlace consultant for several years. Can you say "Conflict of interest?" Also, one of this woman's daughters was used a few years as a juvenile guest critic on the Saturday G Rated page for kids. (Tear sheets exist to prove it.) Can you say, again, "Conflict of interest?" While nine Metro reporters, two sports writers, three citics, three columnists and three features writers, all of whom write in English, are going to be axed, the tiny fragment of people who read Enlace (they get it for free as an insert mostly in South Bay) are the only important San Diegans. Screw all of you who have the nerve to read and write and speak English.— December 8, 2007 3:43 p.m.
Check Please
I think if you begin by telling your server you want separate checks, that helps. But most of today's establishments use computers that use a table number/server combo to keep track of transactions.— December 7, 2007 3:57 p.m.
U-T's Bungled Buyout Will Probably Lead to Best People Leaving
This may be a small thing, but to me it shows that the UT is indeed going downhill. An article in this weeks Night & Day section page 4, paragraph one says that this is the 30th celebration of December Nights at Balboa Park. December Nights started in 2002. From 1978 through 2001 it was called Christmas On The Prado, so this is only the 6th celebration of December Nights, not the 30 they claim. As far as I am concerned it still should be Christmas On The Prado.— December 7, 2007 6:03 a.m.

Celebrities Privacy
There are laws against what the paparazzi are doing already. Stalking, invasion of privacy, wreckless endangerment, libel, slander, and assault. The laws just don't get enforced. It's just part of the lifestyle they have to accept, like a cost of doing business. Plus, like drugs, there is a demand that fuels this rabid photo market with all the magzines like Us, People, and the tabloids. So it's a matter of enforcing the laws. Just like the booze ban.— December 6, 2007 2:05 p.m.
