Union-Tribune To Lop 15-20 More Heads
Don, you were a sourpuss at the paper and it's sad to see how you've deteriorated even more. What in the world made you such a mean-spirited person? The U-T gave you a platform for your voice and lined your pockets for decades (and have your pension checks bounced?). The joke when I was working there was that you predicted the last nine of two recessions. What will you write about the Reader and its publisher the next time you retire? In my humble opinion you're a journalistic prostitute. And please, no need to respond. Another retired U-T employee— December 30, 2007 8:16 p.m.
29 Newspeople, Some of Paper's Best, Take U-T Buyout
Remember when people would getthe Sunday paper to look for jobs? My have things changed. Today's Sunday SDUT jobs classifieds is only three pages! I remember it used to be dozens of pages. The loss of ad revenue must be killing them. There are tons of inserts though.— December 30, 2007 11:17 a.m.

So the lady in charge of ethics for the city is one of Dorothy's companions on the yellow brick road? Can you guess which one?— December 28, 2007 9:52 p.m.
Is Bell Retiring from U-T? Rumor Makes Sense

Sanders's Ethics Chief Voted for Benefits IRS Found"Failures"
Don, This is very interesting development. Especially when the Muni code clear states the plan sponser grants benefits and SDCERS just administerst them. Did the City grant these so-called Presidential Benefits... This is also an odd situation a city employee is elected Union Prez...do they go on a leave of absence? Who pays their salary? Does there salary change? Under the highest one year rule does the Union Salary then get used in formulating their retirement benefit? Are there salary caps in place? But of course what is more disturbing is your revelation regarding board's vote.... Do they have adequate in-house and outside counsel to advise them when they are violating IRS rules?— December 28, 2007 3:09 p.m.
SDCERS Does Mea Culpa Over 14 IRS Violations, but DROP and Purchase of Service Credits Still Not Before the Agency
Well, it turns out I was wrong. The copy of "Interim Report #24" that is currently on the City Attorney web site is an amended copy. Several of the errors that I pointed out here have been fixed. Alas, the percentage that the city puts in DROP is STILL incorrect. Don, you say that lots of hard work went into this document. So why was it posted on a public web site with all those errors? Shouldn't the CA be above that? Or was he just playing politics and trying to look good by rushing his report to coincide with the IRS report?— December 28, 2007 2:20 p.m.
Old People Behind the Wheel
I was rear ended at a stoplight last month by an old lady. You know what her excuse was? She hit the gas instead of the brake.— December 27, 2007 11:50 p.m.
Vista Man Kills Wife, On the Run
Get that man i hate him so much for killing my mom???????????????— December 27, 2007 8:14 p.m.
