Why the Strong Mayor Idea Won't Work with a Dishonest Mayor
Don I realize you're not living in SD any longer. But if you have local connections, you should see how the books were cooked during the 1996 RNC by slushing money through San Diego Data Processing, a wholly onwned private corporation of the City... talk about audits...LOL— January 11, 2008 12:03 p.m.
Countrywide Stock Zooms 55 Percent on Rumor B of A Will Buy It
A price jump of 55% Wow! (Some black swan speculators made some serious money on this one.) So everything is fine. Crisis over. You can just see the impotent financial regulators chortling, "Everyone go home. Nothing to see here. It's all back to normal." Meanwhile, there are some BofA executives in the back of the room, staring at their shoes with lips pursed. Maybe their ties are a bit too tight. Oh well, it's not really THEIR money either. Aren't we all thankful that savvy (insider) Wall Street investors made out, once again? What a relief! Too bad about Grandma, though. Guess she'll be sleeping in her car. But she'll be fine! Her photo album has pictures of the house she lost to the mortgage scams. (yet another sdblogger)— January 11, 2008 11:12 a.m.
Why the Strong Mayor Idea Won't Work with a Dishonest Mayor
You're all gonna vomit, but here's the official UT take on Colonel Sander's contribution to global warming at the posh Balboa Theatre...(with my comments interspersed thus)... San Diego, which continues its recovery from years of financial mismanagement...(huh? we haven't started yet!)... Sanders welcomed county Supervisor Ron Roberts to join him...(Because no body in San Diego has more integrity than Ron Roberts? Not even looking!)... he and Sanders will lead a group to “create a regional game plan”...(Uh oh! Sports metaphor...DUCK!)... called for a statewide water bond to help San Diego...(Yeah, except we've heard "other people will pay our bills" before - it doesn't work you morons.)... Peters credited Sanders for making “a huge bow” to regional cooperation by ceding time to Roberts...(Need any more proof that his ego is more important than our lives?) Don, I hope you keep a close eye on the Balboa Park committee of "citizens". Why do I suspect it's gonna be the usual suspects secretly dividing the pie...and we'll all pay for their corruption. Why the Strong Mayor Idea Won't Work with a Dishonest Mayor
I don't know that Sanders is necessarily a dishonest mayor. I simply think that he's a puppet. My personal view is that he's been being prepped for mayor for years by the power brokers in this town. He was set up to look like the savior of fallen organizations (ARC and United Way) by folks who knew that San Diego's gov't would likely face crisis in the not too distant future. With Murphy's downfall, the time was right for them to bring Sanders in. Perhaps the single biggest event which started the downfall was the Republican National Convention. Who is the mayor's "political consultant" now? The same guy who brought us the RNC.— January 11, 2008 7:33 a.m.
I'm a Slave for Britney
Hey Josh, your webmaster dropped the ball on uploading this weeks cover story.. or did The Reader do that to see how many copies would get picked up at brick-and-morter locations?— January 11, 2008 12:25 a.m.
