Mark-Elliott Lugo says San Diego Transit worse every year
For what it's worth, Pup, I took it at face value too.— October 5, 2009 11:56 a.m.
Mark-Elliott Lugo says San Diego Transit worse every year
Jay, I hear that Fresno is home to the Fresno Area Rapid Transit.— October 2, 2009 5:46 p.m.
None
I wondered what the hell that was all about.— October 2, 2009 2:22 p.m.
Confessions
That qualifies for the self-revelation Olympics. Bravo.— October 2, 2009 2:09 p.m.
There's No Cheating In Scrabble
With all this talk about "censoring of inoffensive comments," people seem to have overlooked something. When a comment DOES get pulled by the website administrator, doesn't it usually end up saying, "Comment removed by website administrator" where the comment used to be? In other words, I wonder if this disappearance of the Penn and Teller tangent necessarily occurred at the hand of some website administrator. Think about it. It wouldn't be the first time a computer malfunctioned.— October 2, 2009 10:47 a.m.
Everybody always wants to throw glass in stone houses and, sooner or later, someone's going to lose an eye!
No, I think even for Styx (the rock group) the correct adjective would still be "Stygian." Some graffiti I once saw at Grossmont College c. 1982: Styx sux dyx.— October 2, 2009 5:46 a.m.

(#11) ...they also flow in a subterranean, Styxian sort of way... I believe the word is "Stygian," isn't it? One of those weird toponyms like Cantabrigian or Liverpudlian.— October 2, 2009 4:57 a.m.
Little Feat
Oh, hey, wait now. Neon Park did some great stuff, though his crowning achievement was _Weasels Ripped My Flesh_ by the Mothers, probably my favorite album cover of all time and widely considered one of the best ever.— October 2, 2009 2:01 a.m.
...and so it began...
(#10) That's grammar, Pete, not grammer. Remember: "Gramma knew her grammar." And also remember that the spell-checker is only as good as the idiot using it. Great to see you writing your own thing here now; I'm sure it'll be a good read. Just wondering though whether it's the diary of a madman or a mad man. Two different things.— October 1, 2009 10:54 p.m.

(#41) "There was neither libel nor profanity in what nan and I wrote." Doesn't matter -- not 100% anyway. A newspaper isn't interested in *winning* a lawsuit; it's interested in *avoiding* the lawsuit. "Certain employees of the Reader are allowed to write at length libelous content that is not by any stretch of imagination fact-checked, and many many public figures are mentioned. These threads, with maybe one exception, are not removed." I'd be interested in hearing some specifics.— October 1, 2009 4:10 p.m.
