Ponzi Schemer J. David "Jerry" Dominelli Is Dead
Well, ain't that something. The Union-Tribune, suffering a bit of delayed reaction, today noted on the home page of its website (www.signonsandiego.com) the passing of J. David Dominelli, scoundrel extraordinaire. Seems like you broke that several days ago, didn't you, Don?— October 14, 2009 1:41 p.m.
Stuttering Stanley and Jittery Jeremy
"Hey Russl...speaking of theme songs, you know the really catchy theme song from The Office?" Nope, never seen that show. Interesting bit of knowledge though, particularly as I used to love Spirit back in sixth grade.— October 12, 2009 9:58 a.m.

"K-K-K-Katy" by Billy Murray -- a hit from WWI. "M-M-Motor Vehicle" is on the 1986 album _The Many Moods of the Ben Vaughn Combo._ The only song of his you probably know is the theme from _Third Rock From the Sun._— October 11, 2009 9:20 p.m.

Rush Hour Spectacle
"Sarcasm is meant to be scornful in a mocking way"? Actually, sarcasm is simply saying the exact opposite of what you really mean -- "an extreme form of irony," our English teachers used to say. It's a risky thing to use, especially when you get taken at face value.— October 11, 2009 2:24 p.m.

(#44) Don, I don't recall Sinbad's actual words. That was me paraphrasing. And in any case, if you're going to steal, steal from the best.— October 10, 2009 12:09 p.m.

(#36) "The Wikipedia I saw did not say [Sinbad] was dead." Maybe because he held a press conference to announce that the Wikipedia entry that claimed he was dead was greatly exaggerated. Musta been corrected after that.— October 10, 2009 11:42 a.m.
Grumpy Gus Says -- I Dare You to Sue Me!
For what it's worth, Josh, I was told (as you probably were too) that in Biblical times, the women were raped so often by conquering armies that the only sure way to trace your lineage was through the women. Makes sense, but what is it with soldiers committing rape? I've been told by a lady friend in the Army that it's particularly common for men to do that after a skirmish. That's something I've never experienced, and so I speak as an outsider, but I don't understand how that drives a man to commit rape and certainly don't see how that justifies it. If anyone can shed light on this, I'd love to hear it.— October 10, 2009 11:35 a.m.
Grumpy Gus Says -- I Dare You to Sue Me!
OK, then my Jewish friends misinformed me. Never mind, Josh.— October 10, 2009 4:22 a.m.

By "Which half?" I meant Mom or Dad. Judaism is matrilinear, so if your mom's Jewish, you're Jewish.— October 10, 2009 4 a.m.
