It's Better To Burn Out Than It Is To Fade
(#179) Fish, I see your point and concede that Pup may well have been telling the truth based on a difference of perspective. But again, does anyone report a comment to single it out for commendation? "Calling him a liar is an extremely harsh judgement." True, but no worse than insisting that a college graduate has but a GED and that a tax-paying private worker is a public employee (shudder!) and refusing to be told otherwise since he, naturally, would know. You do make the excellent point -- you hinted at it anyway -- that there is no veracity whatsoever in these forums; anyone can say anything, and anyone who takes it at face value is a fool. Amen.— November 23, 2009 1:53 a.m.
It's Better To Burn Out Than It Is To Fade
Well, Gringo, I think he demonstrated that he was perfectly willing to lie about others, lie (I'd call it) about himself, falsely accuse strangers, and evade evade evade when someone confronted him on it. I realize that the Internet was invented for libeling other people anonymously, but I still don't care for being maligned, even by a stranger. Come to think of it, nobody does.— November 23, 2009 1:39 a.m.
It's Better To Burn Out Than It Is To Fade
"russl, the >Report it button is at the bottom of each post, by the name, time, date stamp." Dang, you're right. Just like the Purloined Letter. "So, do you agree that if SurfPuppy had been clicking that button, he was actually in fact, 'reporting' and not 'requesting removal' via the other process?" Yes, if he wanted to report it for the sake of reporting it. But somebody tell me why else someone would report a comment other than to have it removed.— November 23, 2009 1:16 a.m.
It's Better To Burn Out Than It Is To Fade
Technically, I suppose so, although I don't know why else you'd want to report a post. ("Hey! This one's cool! Take a look!") Also, I'm still mystified as to where you found this "Report it" button.— November 23, 2009 1:01 a.m.
It's Better To Burn Out Than It Is To Fade
(#171) I don't think so. But click on any bold name on this page; on the next page, click "view all" (in red); following that, if we're on the same page, so to speak, you'll see "(Suggest removal)."— November 23, 2009 12:48 a.m.
It's Better To Burn Out Than It Is To Fade
To all who have sworn never to flag a comment, I suggest you reconsider: flag spam. Please. Nobody wants it, including the host. On the distinction between reporting and requesting removal: there is no distinction. There is no button for "Hey, I thought you should take a look at this"; there is one button, and it says "(Suggest removal)." Feel free to use it, but with discretion. Back to our lifting.— November 23, 2009 12:36 a.m.
It's Better To Burn Out Than It Is To Fade
Let's lift one to free speech. Notice I didn't say civilized discourse, I said free speech. And to Fumber. You gotta admit, the guy's a crack-up. I'd never want to see him gone.— November 22, 2009 10:59 p.m.
It's Better To Burn Out Than It Is To Fade
(#151) You're absolutely right, Gringo; guilty as charged. But hell, don't we *all* look like children?— November 22, 2009 10:44 p.m.
It's Better To Burn Out Than It Is To Fade
(#147) Busted. P.S.: Be sure to flag this, Surf Puppy 619, Esq.— November 22, 2009 10:16 p.m.
It's Better To Burn Out Than It Is To Fade
"Such behavior casts doubt about overall trustworthiness...." Trustworthiness?!? Jay, he's a lawyer, for God's sake!— November 22, 2009 10:08 p.m.
