Rain, Rain, Go Away...
Yes, but that contribution to global warming is simultaneously offset by the green energy you generate in front of windmills.— December 8, 2009 9:59 p.m.
Liver and Mushrooms
That's John Cage the composer, not John Cale of the Velvet Underpants.— December 6, 2009 5:20 p.m.
Liver and Mushrooms
OK, since no one else will say this, I will: mushrooms are edible, TOADSTOOLS are poisonous. Distinguish them yourself at your own risk. The ones in the stores are safe. Little-known fact: composer John Cage was an authority on mushrooms. He once acquitted himself nicely at a species-identifying, "name that mushroom" competition.— December 6, 2009 1:29 p.m.
Of Ball and Bus
Not a like comparison. People getting trampled due to atrocious and outdated crowd-control methods don't equate with fans and hooligans flooding the streets after a game and willfully causing trouble.— December 2, 2009 4:05 p.m.
Of Ball and Bus
"Didn't seem to affect these guys too adversely." Which guys?— December 2, 2009 11:32 a.m.
Only Life
Not sure I follow all that, but I still find "Deep Fascination" and "What Goes On" mesmerizing.— November 24, 2009 3:29 p.m.
It's Better To Burn Out Than It Is To Fade
Good for you for standing your ground. I might add though, If you need to flag, flag. And as a friend of mine puts it, There's a special place in hell for people who forward e-mail. Tweaker shift is over. See you tomorrow.— November 23, 2009 3:52 a.m.
It's Better To Burn Out Than It Is To Fade
True, but that doesn't mean admin is lazy (though maybe they are); it might mean they disagree, or maybe the flagged material just doesn't rise to the level of deletability. Or maybe the *person reporting* is the one harassing the other, and the admins told the reporter to go get hosed.— November 23, 2009 2:52 a.m.
It's Better To Burn Out Than It Is To Fade
(#189) Pete, as always I get a laugh from you, but I gotta say, the foot in the ass doesn't work too well with spammers. For that you need a bot.— November 23, 2009 2:16 a.m.
It's Better To Burn Out Than It Is To Fade
(#188) OK, you're right about that. There is such a thing as reporting harassing behavior and compiling evidence against the harasser in the hope that the administrator(s) will take action -- e.g., kick the other person off. (Thanks for getting back on that.) However, I dare say this was not the case. The comments in question were part of the skirmish that took place today and are still up. The admins didn't seem to think they were deletable and didn't otherwise take action. Yet.— November 23, 2009 2:13 a.m.
