Other than that, Mr. Waddle, one can only assume that you had no other issues with this piece (sorry, I couldn't resist, you put so much effort into your reply, it's a quite impressive critique). I read it a bit differently. The bike ride (and even the bikes) are merely vehicles to move the interesting tidbits of local history from one point to the next, and the dialogue seems to serve as a catalyst to hold the end of one of those pauses to the next. Otherwise, wouldn't it be a bit dry and textbookish to simply write a dozen paragraphs concerning different locations in respect to local history?

Let’s Build an Even Bigger Jack in the Box in North Park

Two points. First, I fail to have much sympathy for people who purchase homes near existing businesses and then proceed to whine about the traffic. If you buy a home next to a dairy farm, you had better expect a lot of flies and not mind the smell of manure. Second, what's the alternative to an enhanced drive-thru and an outdoor dining area? A mess of parked cars where consumers are more likely to toss their trash right out the window. If you consider the rebuild from a different perspective, wouldn't a more robust drive-thru enable cars to move through and out faster? And wouldn't an outdoor dining area with trash cans near the tables encourage a cleaner site? As the old Japanese proverb goes, the other side of the coin also has another side.

I am not, nor have I ever been registered in any way, and I've lived in Baja for 20 years. Dozens of my fellow expats are also not registered. Remaining withing the Frontera boundaries does not require registration, although the law dictates that you can stay no more than 3 days without a visa. In effect, no one cares, no one keeps track, there really is no need. I do not even possess a U.S. passport. The only time I am ever asked for identification is when I am working in a journalistic capacity. The numbers out of INM have never been a reliable nor accurate source.

Carlsbad Attorney Admits Taking Clients’ Funds for Personal Use

The point is, her jail time will not compensate the victims. Feeling really warm and fuzzy inside over launching her into a jail cell recovers nothing for them. She has assets, and even if they ONLY recover a little bit, that is better than nothing. Her jail time won't amount to a handful of beans anyway. Do you really think that 3 years in jail (versus 1) is going to make a difference in the long run? Change her somehow? Punish her somehow? If she owed me money, I'd argue for no jail time, file a civil suit, and make her work and pay me for the rest of her life.

A very fun piece. You know, you can't mention Bob Ross without bringing up William Alexander. That Prussian accent killed it, I would have never picked up a brush if not for that guy. He would often just stop painting and look into the camera as though he just knew I was chewing gum and passing notes in class. I learned just how much power was in a simple fan brush from that guy. So did Bob Ross. I hope you sell your show.
