Look, I don't have a gun in this fight, I can't haul in 94.9 from down here, but I *get* how it's relatively serious and uncommon that a contract gets *terminated* in radio. Normally, when talent is let go, the contract remains, which means that if that would have happened with Esparza, he would still be getting paid. Radio stations generally want to avoid the lawyers and so on, so they'll allow talent to simply drift if the ratings tank and they eat the money. The fact that Esparza has nothing to say about this should lend you a clue that something went sideways. I get you're a big Mickey fan, but pull yourself back and look at this rationally. If Esparza is the awesome talent you claim he is, then he will turn up elsewhere, eventually. In radio, you have a shelf-life at any station you work for. That's part of that business. Relax, let it all play out.

I know, right? It's funny because growing up in the U.S. you get an idea of what fast food is supposed to be, but here it's so completely different. Like tacos. That ain't fast food, you don't chow down on tacos in your car, it's either at the stand or at home. But tamales, oddly, are more versatile than one would think. If you eat them at home, then you can go from end to end, but in the car you eat them inside-out. I'm partial to either beef or pork myself, preferring red chili to green with tamales. But pineapple is good, too. Or as they call them here, dulce de piña.

Actually, tamales *are* great drive-and-eat food, it's just a little tricky to learn and I don't imagine the police would be very please to see you do it. At all border crossings, tamale vendors in Tijuana do quite well. Sounds like Jose has a good selection.

Mythbusters: Are there 14,000 expatriates living in Rosarito?

In the Zona Frontera, the laws are different. Yes, they tell you to register, but no one I know does. The law (which is lax and not enforced) is that within the Frontera visitors do not require a visa. They are SUPPOSED to be limited to a three day stay, but it's a law with no teeth since it isn't required that anyone signs a time sheet upon entering. Over 20 years ago, I asked for a tourist visa and presented my passport. When they learned that I would only be North of Ensenada, they told me it isn't required. I, being overly cautious, insisted. They gave me some silly piece of paper, grudgingly. That is when I learned. Since then, I've read their laws concerning the Frontera. Obviously, some people haven't bothered to do so.

Sorry, you're wrong on most counts. I don't work FOR a Mexican concern, I pay U.S. Taxes. I openly confess to living in Mexico without a VISA because IT ISN'T REQUIRED in the Frontera, how do you not know this? Journalists who write for MEXICAN publications are required to get the necessary permissions to do so. I do not write for any Mexican publication. I do not need a Mexican work permit to be a journalist in Mexico. You are very ill-informed about all of this. It is a mistake for you to think I haven't learned a thing in my 20 years here.

Tony Gwynn got salivary gland cancer but won't denounce chewing tobacco

I don't agree with Gil Ross. I was 9 years old when I smoked my first cigarette. By the time I was in high school I was a pack-per-day smoker. I currently smoke more than that, I am 50 years old. There was one point in my life where I quit, I was around 30 years old. Six months later I had a particularly difficult day, if there would have been a gun handy I might have eaten a bullet. Instead, I started smoking again. Gil Ross has one thing right: The best way to quit an addiction is to substitute something else in its place. What Gil Ross has wrong is that substituting another harmful addiction in its place is not a good substitution. I bought bags of lollypops when I quit. Every time I wanted a cigarette (which was constantly for the first week), I sucked on some candy. However, I point out to everyone that dentists would not recommend this. But it worked. And what Gil Ross is advocating would also work. It simply isn't healthy. And for the record, I agree with Mark Kotsay. I do not need rules and regulations to save me from myself. Also know that there is no guarantee that one will get a cancer or some other disease from smoking or chewing tobacco. It greatly increases your odds, but otherwise it's still a crap shoot. Any honest doctor will tell you this, just as honest doctors have told me this. You quit tobacco mainly because it greatly increases the quality of your life. But banning tobacco is not going to help anyone other than a criminal element that will ensure its availability in spite of such rules and regulations.
