Hangin' on the Telephone
Rino - Totally disagree about taking care of the person on the phone first before the customer in front of you. I worked for a cell phone retail store for 3 years and they always taught you to answer the phone, no matter how busy you were, but the customer IN the store was always considered more important. If I walked into a store, not Chuck E Cheese, and wanted to purchase something but the clerk was on the phone (of course other factors would be involved) I would just leave because to me, they didn't want my business...So I completely agree with Bean08. Here's old school for you Josh...my Mom does not have callerID OR an answering machine. Never has. She always says "if it's important enough, they'll call back"....makes me smile every time I see her old school phone, too....— November 16, 2009 11:25 p.m.
Pain in the Glass
I have to give you some credit to even stick out the art display....I've never understood art, or the abstractness (is that a word?) of speciality art such as the glass photos you posted with this blog. All I know is, I wouldn't have been there...I guess I'm more of a traditionalist when it comes to art. Don't get me wrong, I can appreciate those who create from nothing, but whose to say it's really art? And I don't recall seeing that bumper sticker before...but nice!!— November 16, 2009 1:22 a.m.
Athletes Gone Wild -- College Soccer, Football, and Tyson Edition
Interesting read....you're right about the idiot with Tyson...unless the guy had to go to the toilet too, but if it were me, I'd just hold it. Usually when I read things like this, especially with paparazzi and sports athletes or tv/movie celebs, I think there are always two sides of the story, even though we usually see one side of it. What gets me, is when a paparazzi sues a celeb/athlete for when they cross the line and get punched/kicked/pushed aside, whatever. Shouldn't there be a point where a person needs to take self responsibility for their actions???— November 14, 2009 12:53 p.m.
Facebook and Food Fights in School
I like your points about the teacher and Facebook, but I also agree that she should not have lost her job. Maybe a reprimand and a strong "urging" to delete her FB account. If she wanted to post stuff short and not so personally revealing, she could have used Twitter...but then again, she is 24 and how many 24 year olds DON'T have a Facebook account? Can you just imagine Pizza Hut sending a pizza to MMHS? :-) I think ol' Vlassis would have shown up with a plate saying "Where's my slice?" Or maybe would have told a joke about it....— November 13, 2009 12:36 p.m.
Tipsy and Talkative
No drinking beer or sushi? Dude...really?— November 13, 2009 1:57 a.m.
The Diaper Darling -- Astronauts Gone Wild
I think the longer I live in Europe, the more I understand how the legal system in the U.S. is mocked by other countries. For instance, the case you brought up here. Should this lady had even been charged with a crime, or better yet, clogging up our legal system any further than it already is? I'm sure I'm missing most of the story, but it's kind of like the numerous frivolous lawsuits choking up court time...gotta love the law... As far as Letterman? Seriously, the guy has affairs b/c he's famous...it's not his looks... :-) But isn't it odd that they executed the Washington Sniper on 11 Nov? How long was he on death row, 7 years?— November 12, 2009 5:01 a.m.
Blinded by the White -- Sammy Sosa and Amy Winehouse Get Goofy
I've read some of the stories about Sammy Sosa and now he is calling it the fault of his skin cream. Really? That's the best he can come up with? Maybe it's the after effects of his years of steroid use. Next, we'll see Barry Bonds doing his own tribute to Michael Jackson... A woman having a cat is sad? Nah...I think the woman who have cats that have hair wigs are sad!! You're right, there has to be a Shatner version...maybe a Wayne Newton or a Burt Reynolds too!— November 11, 2009 5:31 a.m.
Wee for a Wii -- Weeee! for attorneys
As I will probably never be as famous as an athelete or rock star, I can see where the pre-nups can come into play. But the nit-picking that must go on in those negotiations must be horrible. And for the woman dying, yes, as PistolPete pointed out that its tragic, she is old enough to know and should be responsible for her own actions. In my opinion, just another frivolous lawsuit cluttering up the American court systems...— October 31, 2009 2:25 a.m.
Craigslist Craziness -- The Costume Edition
I'm back! Finally...it only took nearly a year....I promise I'll be better about commenting! :-) Have to admit though, your number reason isn't very good. But at least you realized it. I think when you do dress up, you should take a pic and place a poll and see if people recognize you. If the Cher was that good, then something went wrong with your costume! And I have no idea who Jon and Kate Gosslin are....guess I will have to Google them...sad how a noun has become a verb...kind of like Facebook...— October 24, 2009 3:03 p.m.
Don't Try Suicide (You're Just Gonna Hate it)
It seems to be the same name of the game...no one taking self responsibility anymore. If something bad happens to a person, it HAS to be someone else's fault! I agree with the points you made, Josh, and it may be a small rant or tirade on your part, but sadly, it's the society we all live in today....— September 8, 2008 11:37 p.m.
