Police Shootings and Ninjas
Without knowing anything else about the case you're referring to other that what you have just written, what other choice did the parents have? Mental institution? Obviously there is no right answer, but only choices that can be made. But you're right, with the kind of violent history this person has already displayed, maybe shooting him wasn't that far fetched? I'm sympathetic to those people who are 'not all there', or having a clinical diagnosis. I'm just not sure what can be done....— November 30, 2009 2:08 a.m.
At the Movies (long film titles, to go with all the long lines you'll see this weekend)
Here's my quick list - JFK, Schindler's List, Something About Mary, Usual Suspects, Office Space. And probably in that order. I just feel like every time I watch JFK, I get something new...that movie is so dialogue heavy, that it's one you really have to pay attention to it or you'll miss something. Ponzi, good comeback with Costco, and I agree that today's kids have a lack of activity. Wasn't like that when I was a kid either. Also, don't need to study or take an exam for CA DL. I had a Oregon DL before I moved to Europe. I had to exchange my OR DL for the Belgian one, but I receive all my mail at my brother's house in Oceanside. So, as far as any DMV nationwide knows, I reside in CA and I can go in there, say I lost my OR DL, and ask for, pay for, and get a CA DL...was more hoping I could do all that online...but I doubt it...so it'll have to wait until my next State-side appearance next year...— November 27, 2009 1:48 p.m.

But I do have to go to the DMV in Cali...remember? I just got a Belgian license so now I have to get a new state license from the U.S.! :-) I'll try and stay away from the courts though...I wonder if I can do it all online? Speaking of movies though, and I ask this of many of my friends, is there a short list (top 3 or 5) movies that you can watch over and over again b/c you liked them that much?— November 27, 2009 1 a.m.

I agree that there are some films better seen on the big screen, but by all means do I not watch the movie on my computer. I have a cable that puts in from my computer to my LCD TV. The last time I was in a Costco, it was in Portland, OR....and all I saw were fat people...made me sick....— November 26, 2009 11:49 a.m.

I've been to the movie theater 5 times in the last 15 or so years. I just don't go...don't think its worth it, but I've still seen a ton a movies...like you, Josh, I can't fathom paying that much for a tub of popcorn the size of a Smart car, or a Coke the size of my head. Don't even get me started on the price of admission! Heck, I won't even step into a Costco...I think about KarenBP's comment from your last post about obesity in America...and I think Costco is a big contributor to that. But, I digress....I say continue paying those outrageous admission prices to the movies so I can continue downloading them off the internet for free, watch them in the comfort of my own home, at my leisure, with a beer... :-) Thanks!!— November 26, 2009 6:40 a.m.
Taking a Stand by Refusing to Stand
I had no idea they were still doing the Pledge....I thought that was outdated?— November 25, 2009 11:59 p.m.
The Blood Blog -- The Chargers Blood Drive
Wow, you're a trooper for staying that long. But in a sense, it's nice to see people come out and give blood. I give blood 3 times a year, but it's nice working for a big company, even here in Belgium. The Red Cross comes out and sets up shop in our atrium. There are 6,500 people who work in 3 28 floor towers. I think they stay for a week, to try an accommodate everyone. However, I do miss the t-shirts... :-)— November 25, 2009 6:48 a.m.
Mothers
Haha....that's sounds like the kind of post I would put on my sister's page...or another family member's page....but then again, I wouldn't worry or care who read it and would be upset about it b/c I would know that the person it was intended for would know it was from me, and that it was a joke or full of sarcasm...but then again, my mom doesn't have a computer... :-)— November 23, 2009 7:03 a.m.
Observations From the Drive-In
Okay, just got the low down from a colleague. There is one drive-in that he can think of here in Brussels. He also said that drive-ins are usually reserved for the Summer and its an event. Since it rains here so much, I guess it could be difficult for a true drive-in experience. They also do a lot of outdoor movie events where families sit on the grass in these huge parks and have a picnic while the movie is projected onto a large screen. Again, usually during the Summer...problem with the movies in the Summer? We're so far north that the sun usually doesn't go down until 10pm....which can make for a late picnic...— November 22, 2009 11:46 p.m.
Observations From the Drive-In
The first and probably the only drive in movie I remember going to was Dirty Harry movie "Magnum Force"...after that, my father passed away and we never went to another drive in movie. I personally have not been to another either...I can't even think of the one you went to...but then again, I don't get to Santee too often...I'll have to ask my colleagues if they have drive in theaters here in Belgium...I'll check back in tomorrow with an update!— November 22, 2009 4:22 a.m.
