Not Leaving on an Airplane
I'm no lawyer, but I'll bet they're claiming some sort of defamation of character, or something along the lines of racial profiling. When I read about things like this, I keep thinking about Rodney King..."Can't we all just get along?"— November 4, 2007 3:26 a.m.
No Habla English
And I think you're missing the concept. You are FREE to SPEAK whatever language you want. That's not the problem. The problem is not conforming to the OFFICIAL language in reading/writing/speaking in order to get things completed. Which, in the U.S., is ENGLISH. Laslty, you should look up your own $10 word - Here it is - Ethnocentric - centered on a specific ethnic group, usually one's own. So how does that word prove your point?— November 4, 2007 3:18 a.m.
No Habla English
Amen, Brother Josh! I couldn't agree more. I can appreciate that even more here in Belgium where there are two official languages: French and Dutch. All the signs are in both languages, including street signs. Do I expect everyone to speak English? Nope. I'm all for "I'm in your country, I will have to learn your language" kind of attitude. Hats off to you...and nice pun on Clip Board..wonder how many got that?— November 3, 2007 1:50 a.m.
The Greetings Should Stay in Cards
I never liked those questions when I worked as a window clerk in the Escondido PO....it seems worse now, but it's sad that they feel the need to "push" the sale like that....welcome to retail, I guess...— October 30, 2007 1:23 a.m.
Light My Fire
I agree with fifi...morons...but I also remember when 9/11 happened and I was living near Dulles Airport. Same news coverage over every network...obviously I'm not trying to compare 9/11 to these fires, but some variances in the news business would be nice. It's the same thing here. CNN International and BBC World News sound like reruns every morning....— October 25, 2007 12:59 p.m.
Art Art Bo Bart.
The first paper I had to write in college had to do with art. The professor asked the question "Is all art propaganda?" And in your paper, you had to answer the question. Personally, I can care less about art...no matter who paints it or what it's worth. And to answer the question quickly, yeah, I think all art has a hidden agenda...meaning I don't get it!! ;-)— October 25, 2007 12:53 a.m.
Play With Fire
I've had this recurring thought when I see a smoker toss his cigarette out onto the road...I'm always in dead stop traffic, see the offending butt hit the road, I get out of my car, walk up and pick up the butt, and tell the person who threw it out "Excuse me, but you dropped this"...the world is not your personal ashtray...— October 24, 2007 5:35 a.m.
Lawyers, Bets, & Money.
Why does it seem like the people who have (or make) money, never seem to pay up on a lost wager? Oh yeah...that's right....they're the ones with money because their too cheap to pay up....never fails...— October 22, 2007 6:03 a.m.
Kamikaze Kayakers
As a fearing "Jaws" lover myself, I was always afraid of swimming in the ocean. When my wife and I went to Australia last year, she wanted to scuba since she was certified....I was terrified. But strangely enough, I was 'okay' once I got in the water. We did see a shark, I think it was a small nurse (harmless) shark. Not bigger than 1.5 meters but enough to freak you out. About the guy swimming back to shore? I don't think I could live with myself if I DID lie to the reporters. He just instinctively swam away...— October 18, 2007 3:52 a.m.
I Think We Need a Bigger Boat
Yeah, you didn't recognize the username since I had to register in order to comment on your Daily Blog.....I'm your favorite reader in Brussels, Belgium.....About Terry, it's weird when you mention a "blast from the past" and all of a sudden, I see their face....scary.....and I saw the USS Indianapolis story on Discovery Channel...now THAT must have been scary...can you imagine the mind games being played from the heat, humidity, solitude, and then sharks?!?! No thanks....the survivors should get medals...— October 17, 2007 12:07 p.m.
