Are You Ready For Some Football Debates?
I agree Josh, even though I'm not a pro football fan, per se, I believe it to be a rip off to all those fans that were either at the game, or watching it on tv, or the fantasy geeks. The main purpose of playing a game is to win...right? No matter what, don't you want to win every game? It's a blight agains the NFL, but I don't think the Commish should do something about it, forcing a team to play it's stars, etc. I completely disagree with what the Colts did, but let's just hope that they don't tank game 16 on Sunday against an inferior Bills team.— January 1, 2010 7:41 a.m.
The Bee Blog
Pistol, what did we say about Wiki links? ;) Just kidding.... Storyteller, start threatening your dogs with the talk of getting a cat that will chase the rats! I have two cats...I don't see rats, mice, or even spiders...they really clean the place up! Josh, as far as wasps, your story cracked me up...when my Mom had an additional room built onto her house in MM, a wasp nest showed up afterwards. Of course, curiosity got the best of me, but never to the extent you guys did. I think my older brothers took it down with Raid wasp killer that shoots like 20ft or something. I just remember when it came down and wasps were everywhere....I think I was 9...good times!!— December 30, 2009 12:06 a.m.
This Blog Rated PG
I can't remember the last time I even bothered to see what the rating was?? I guess I am either too old, or just don't give a rats ass about the rating...the MPAA can just not exist for all I care... :-)— December 29, 2009 4:47 a.m.
Stealing Christmas Gifts (where's McGruff the Crime Dog?)
Rickeysays, here in Belgium, its split like the rest of the country. The French speakers, do not clean up the poop in parks, streets, etc. If its in a resaurant, café, etc., then they have no choice. But the Flemish speakers, ALWAYS clean up the poop... As far as other countries go - France, Germany, and Spain were pretty clean of it. Italy? Not so much! :-)— December 28, 2009 5:35 a.m.
Stealing Christmas Gifts (where's McGruff the Crime Dog?)
I think its more a European thing with dogs. No one thinks twice about them here in Belgium, and can definitely attest to that same concept in Germany, a dog loving culture. As far as the girl trying to steal the skirt and the employee not calling the police, I mean, what was she supposed to report? Technically its not shoplifting until the person leaves through the door with the item....— December 28, 2009 12:45 a.m.
The Predictable Pandora's Box is Opening
Wow, Josh....have to admit that after I saw it, I didn't think your reviews would be so nice? I immediately stated that I thought the movie was visually stunning..and I'm glad we agree on that...and the story too...hokey, pulled from others, been done before, predictable...whatever term you use, its there. But overall, I thought the movie was worth seeing. As little as I go to the theater, its nice to know that my money wasn't wasted on Avatar.— December 23, 2009 11:49 p.m.
Don't Bring a Snowball to a Gun Fight
I read a story once where a woman in Florida called 911 while she was in the Burger King drive-thru and complained to the 911 operator because BK refused to re-do her order to get it right. It was so funny that I couldn't believe it was actually happening! The operator told her that if it wasn't a life or death emergency, that the operator was hanging up. The lady just kept yelling on about how her order is screwed up and her kids are upset and crying....what a sad state of affairs... :-)— December 22, 2009 12:05 a.m.
Auschwitz and Abbey Road Have Something in Common
Although I've never been to Auschwitz, I have been to Dachau near Munich, Germany. It's a very eerie and somber place. It's really just hard to believe that people would actually do these things under those conditions. There was also a sign on top of the gate at Dachau also, but much smaller. Your trip to London reminds me of when I went to Dallas. In Dealy Plaza there is a red "X" in the middle of the street where JFK took the final shot to his head. This "momento" has tourists there daily walking into traffic, picture posing, walking behind the grassy knoll, etc. And here I thought you've never left the country before!!— December 20, 2009 12:05 a.m.
A Dumb Person Going Rogue in Hawaii
She's an idiot. America's infatuation with her is like watching a train wreck - it's so horrible, you can't help but watch.— December 18, 2009 11:34 p.m.
Day at the DMV (and dumb NFL players)
I think you have a legitimate beef with the smogging place. They basically took a few hours of your day from you when they didn't do something that they should have done. Good for you for going back and standing up for yourself. I also liked your attitude towards the DMV lady. Like you said, she probably deals with lots of people who are upset and blame her when something goes wrong. Having worked customer service and retail, you're the person the customer pastes as the first line of the company you represent. As this, they take it out on you. I always took things with a grain a salt with these people as I tried to explain the situtation. 95% of the time, I would calm them down...the other 5%, there's just no reconciliation to them. My point being that I'm like you, Josh, in that I don't blame the contact person of a large company/gov't entity for something that was done on a collective whole. Of course their are several variables, but when I stand up for something, or argue a point to customer service folks, I always give that person the benefit of the doubt and relax. No one wants to help you if you're yelling at them or making a scene in public...— December 18, 2009 12:39 a.m.
