Heaven's Good
I'm glad I'm a guy. Things are far less complicated for us after a breakup--we just get drunk for a few weeks.— January 1, 2012 2:50 p.m.
A San Diego Christmas
Nice piece, Roody. Sure, Northeast winters look charming and wonderful on postcards and calenders, but they're really no different than a Thomas Kinkade painting: tiresome and miserable. When I was about 12, my mom asked me, "Have you ever thought about how lucky we are to not only have been born in the United States of America, but in San Diego, California?" She still brings this fact up when the thought strikes her.— January 1, 2012 2:44 p.m.
Rising from the Trenches with San Diego's Urban Corps
The need to create and express are driving forces that can never be stifled or contained. There is no rest for the weary--no one is more aware of this than artists. Bravo, Roody. Kudos, my dear.— December 31, 2011 1:48 a.m.
Geezerville
All three of you, nan, Roody, and bohemianopus are beautiful as well as profound--and don't you forget it (like you would). Have a great and safe Happy New Year. Peace out y'all.— December 31, 2011 1:20 a.m.
Geezerville
You go, girl! We'll all be there much sooner than any one of us thinks.— December 29, 2011 5:08 p.m.
Walk on By
...ah, pie ...— December 18, 2011 11:51 p.m.
Walk on By
I guess I was thinking of the possible negative aspects of your poem, Roody. What if the object of the antagonist's desire HAD just glanced away and walked on by? Being viewed with indifference by the one we want can be a very painful, indeed. Okay, maybe "heartbreaking" was a little over the top, but still, it's an unpleasant experience I'd rather never go through again. Ho, ho, ho! Merry Christmas! Isn't it funny that in our modern times, "ho" means something else entirely?— December 18, 2011 9:55 p.m.
Faces in Stone
I've done a lot of bad things in my life, but I've done a lot of good things too. I'll never not feel guilt for the bad, nor shall I ever feel I did enough good. If an afterlife awaits us, I only hope when I'm forced to review my life, that I'll be able to forgive myself and be able to allow others to forgive the things I've done. If not, what then? Self imposed hell? Will it last forever or only for an eon? Will it matter in a realm where there is no time?— December 18, 2011 4:40 p.m.
Walk on By
... pie and tea--I love it! The imagery and emotions you conjure up, Roody, are just lovely, as well as heartbreaking.— December 18, 2011 4 p.m.
Gratitude
I thank you, nan, from all of us, your special Christmas gift, a poem, a song, a yuletide chorus all, to set our souls adrift. au revoir, adieu for now I suppose we’ll wait and see, Did I forget, nan, to tell you ciao, my Christmas chickadee?— December 18, 2011 3:52 p.m.
