This was my first trip to Alaska, and I had heard it was beautiful, but seeing it for myself definitely had more impact. Although it was a work trip I was lucky enough to stay at a hotel that was recently built right on a lake by the university, and there was a trail that ran around the lake that I was able to walk around. Being a Southern California native I was scared about the weather I might see there, but it was perfect! The air was a cool 48 degrees, but so fresh, crisp, and SUNNY every day I was there (up until about 11pm when the sun finally set!). Seeing the trees reflecting off the lake and the snow-covered mountains sweeping across the horizon was breathtaking. My only regret about going to Anchorage is that I didn't extend my business trip into the weekend so I could've had more time to explore...
