This is the Rosicrucian Fellowship Temple located at 2222 Mission Avenue, Oceanside, CA 92058. The Rosicrucians, or Rosicrucian Order of the Rose Cross, are a semi-secret offshoot sect of Christianity (as it existed in the 17th Century). The first written account of the Rosicrucian doctrine was written by one of its founders, a man with the psuedonym Christian Rosenkreuz (or Christian Rose Cross) in Germany in 1614. The order is dedicated to service and mystical healing. In 1908, Danish born Max Heindel was chosen to bring the “mysteries” of the Rosicrucians to the United States. A text, The Rosicrucian Cosmo-Conception, written by Heindel, was was printed in 1909, and land was purchased in 1911 at Mt. Ecclesia in Oceanside for a preparatory school and international headquarters. The temple building itself was dedicated on December 25, 1920. Max Heindel died in 1919 and never lived to see it. The temple was listed on the California Register of Historical Landmarks in 1995.
