Laguna Beach: summer means art fests
Love Laguna Beach...the combination of laid back beach town and arty enclave make for quite the destination.— July 30, 2014 8:48 a.m.
Man on fire
Always looking to get some kind of prop to oneself in any kind of comment--both here and in the OB Rag, Go back to hanging with the old ladies at Woman's Club, Mercy. You are not a good reporter and your lame stories that you do get printed in The Reader are due to your brown-nosing, no doubt.— July 30, 2014 8:07 a.m.
Man on fire
Do not like busy bodies who drive town around looking for tragedies like this to write about. This chick is bogus.— July 27, 2014 9:25 a.m.
Steve West and 91X part company
This is like the third of fourth time this guy has been canned from 91X. I agree that Steve West has vast reserves of musical knowledge but personally, I do not care for him. I have heard stories from behind-the-scenes--of how he acts like a big shot at the station and causes trouble for other radio employees. He likes to use the legal system to retaliate against what he perceives are his enemies. His reputation proceeds him always. I also do not think it is a good idea for him to be working around young people. Steve West is NOT a good guy,— July 27, 2014 9:19 a.m.
Injured Marine veteran gets help from congressmen
Lucy D. Barker is such a fine writer but who is she really? I looked for her on Facebook and it seems she doesn't exist. My friend at the Imperial Beach Nature Center that was interviewed by "her" for a story "she" wrote claims he only talked to a man. If "Lucy" is trans-gender, then congrats to the Reader for using her excellent stories. http://www.sandiegoreader.com/users/photos/2013/s…— September 15, 2013 12:03 p.m.
Papa Doug Manchester in Hollywood
I wish there was a way for some techie to transfer Papa Doug's image into a crowd scene in a porn movie. Then we here in San Diego could create another bogus sex scandal that would rile up the citizens and get everybody talking about something else other than Bob Filner!— July 20, 2013 8:07 p.m.
Bluff gives way at Sunset Cliffs overnight
This is kind of a non-story but then maybe the Reader is getting desperate?— July 12, 2013 9:03 p.m.
Is it the mess or the message? City Attorney has been selective when prosecuting chalk vandalism
Kudos all around to the great job Dorian Hargrove! He broke the Chalk Trial story with great journalistic enterprise and brought to life an injustice that may have remained buried otherwise. Never have I been prouder to have once been associated with The Reader than when Dorian Hargrove dug this one up and brought attention to the injustices involved. This is the very best kind of journalism: writing and reporting, but also playing a role in a story that might have turned our badly, but for the facts discovered that gets the truth out.. Thank you to Dorian and also much thanks to the jurors, who saw through all the B.S. and made a wise decision.— July 1, 2013 7:32 p.m.
Why Big Bear?
Great story! My son 's very first time in snow was at Big Bear. It is a fun place to go at any season. The only thing you might need to have is a good, reliable car that can make the trip up and down the mountain.— June 30, 2013 6:41 p.m.
Chalking the plank: Judge won't allow bank protester to claim first amendment rights
Remember who Judge Howard Shore is? He is the same Judge who Bonnie Dumanis ordered to make rulings against medical marijuana defendant Jovan Jackson during his 2nd trial. Jovan was acquitted during his first trial but Dumanis vowed to persecute him again. Flunkie and troll Judge Shore ordered that Jovan could not use a medical marijuana defense on the grounds that all of members of Answerdam Collective must have participated in growing the cannabis used to serve its members. Because he was denied his medical marijuana defense, Jovan was found guilty at his second trial but filed and won an appeal to that conviction in the Fourth District Court of Appeal (People v. Jackson Cal. Ct. App. - Oct. 24, 2012). This Judge is an idiot and count on him to make so many crazy rulings that courtroom observers will be scratching their heads in disbelief.— June 27, 2013 9:20 p.m.
