Maintenance assessment fee fight flares up in Del Cerro
These Maintenance Assessment Districts are assessed to the homeowner, but usually administered by the same people who manage the Business Improvement Districts. This is a convenient source of revenue for the BIDs, and no guarantees as to what maintenance is going to actually occur and where. So far, it takes a lawsuit to over-turn one. It is far easier to vote one in than to vote it out.— July 6, 2017 12:28 p.m.
Civic San Diego employee says agency is ripe for corruption
We elect our representatives to provide government. As this has proved to be too much trouble in San Diego, Our elected representatives have contracted it out. This is rather like a monarchy. Who does what? Who knows?— June 29, 2017 6:53 p.m.
High Tech High to take over Horizon Christian Academy Clairemont site
My original question: How does SDUSD sell a building to itself?— April 25, 2017 5:29 a.m.
High Tech High to take over Horizon Christian Academy Clairemont site
With High Tech High a SD School District Charter, how does the school district go about selling it to itself?— April 22, 2017 3:10 p.m.
He said he wasn't suicidal is why
Alex, to quote you: "Not everyone who is charged with a crime is guilty of that crime." We don't know. Something went wrong; to me it was a tragic loss of a young life.— March 12, 2017 9:52 a.m.
He said he wasn't suicidal is why
Whatever happened, he was a beautiful child and his lost life a tragedy for us all. He should have had help; whatever perceptions he had were stretched beyond the breaking point. We should all mourn over a system that works this way for our children.— March 9, 2017 11:19 a.m.
Kids' play area planned for small O.B. park
I believe this park is dedicated as Ocean Beach Park under City Charter Section 55, and protected. Saratoga Park and the proposed Ruth Varney Held park are not named parks, and also are not on the list of alcohol-prohibitions for parks. The primary difference between dedicated parks and city property used as a park is that only dedicated parks are protected parkland and require a 2/3 vote of the people of San Diego to change the status.— March 7, 2017 6:16 p.m.
The crosswalk cover-up on Canon Street
Risk management only approves small-value items. The ethical responsibility for serious issues, like the death of a child, is automatically disapproved and if the applicant files a law suit, it is handled by the City Attorney's office.— March 3, 2017 9:32 a.m.
Mayor privately plied by developer chef’s gourmet grub
Any time a lawyer says "clearly," it isn't.— February 4, 2017 7:12 a.m.
Former lieutenant guns for Goldsmith
Did Jan Goldsmith Get a City Pension? He had an eight year term, and the city used to have a 5 years minimum + 5 year pay-in to get a 10 year pension, Or is he going to pop up working somewhere else?— February 1, 2017 10:45 a.m.
